Newbe, kinda

Ok, well I have had my Power FC and Commander for about 8 months now...I have not touched the thing since I installed it. So I guess I am running the base maps. I havent been on the board for a while now. When i was on before the PFC was new and much was to be learned from it. Anyway I am confussed when people are talking about base maps and base mod maps. My real question is I am running intake, dp, and cat-back. I would like to put a midpipe on. As for right now I dont plan on running more than the 2 stock boost settings of 10 and 12. What is needed to be done to insure that I am running a safe map. I see all this about ignition timing and wonder if I need to make any adjustments there. My engine is a stock rebuild with only about 6,000 miles on it, and I am also running stock seq twins. I have been seeing high knock readings on the commander. These readings have show from day 1 of the new engine being in. Anyway please help me out on some info, or what needs to be done to my maps in eather case.

Hi efini93,
How high are these knock readings? The knock meter is for reference purposes only. Don't be alarmed if the bar appears to be maxing out on your monitor. Take note of your average peak readings and remember those values. I've have an average of about 135 myself, although many other users can state higher reading. If you suddenly find spikes in those values, or spikes on graph mode, then you might have problems.

I wouldn't worry too much about maps if you're only running stock mods. Once you do, there are some posted maps for various mod configurations in the PowerFC forum.
