Installation Q's
As of now the PFC will be arriving in 1 - 1.5 wks. (wohoo). So here are my questions...
1. What's difference between 1st and 2nd gen?
2. Anything I need to modify for installation?
3. Do i need to do anything for initialization. I heard I need to let it idle for a day or so . But does that mean that I should let it do the accelerated warmup (if it has any).
And last but rather important question...
4. Should i break in my engine B4 i install the PFC or should it be ok cuz i'm getting a new engine next week too.
TIA
Jo

you shouldn't have to modfy anything just plug in turn on the car and let it idle for 30mins. the old PFC's you had to snip two wires. you can put it in with new engine since you won't be running any boost anyway for 1k miles. the car will not have the 3k rev aws anymore you should immediately notice the car idle better and run smoother. just dyno tune it after 1k break in

There are a few people that have passed smog with the PFC. Make sure you tune up your car, and ensure that your air pump is working.
Potatobbq, I would suggest you take your car to XS to fine tune it once you get one, they're up here in Fullerton, close to me .

I had problems passing the smog test here.
But it wasn't because of the settings of the PFC the car passed fine in terms of chemical output but it would not pass because the check engine light doesn't turn on start-up. I just put the stock ecu back in to get it to pass.
Does anyone know of a way to get the check engine light to come on at start-up? If it is suppose to i need to find out why it doesn't. I did not originally install the PFC the cars previous owner did.

I did not have to snip the wires, and I opened the PowerFC to see if they had been snipped internally but they hadn't. I got mine from SR about 6 months ago.
My AC works on fan positions 1, 2, and 4, but not on 3. That's fine with me -- now I don't have to remove the AC relay to run the radiator fans at the track. For me, this bug is a feature.
