Dyno day results (low hp, help!!!!!)

My AFR I managed to get up to 11.5 and kept it steady. I think my hp is a little on the low side though for my mods. Can someone help me out. I managed a 281 rwhp under 13lbs of boost. Any ideas or suggestions?
Mods: Intake, dp, mp, cb, FMIC, PFC, Pulleys, new motor, new turbos.

Thanks

Richard

Get your dyno sheet scanned and post it. That does look low for your mods. Did the boost look healthy?

Roadracing7,

Maybe I'm confusing you with somebody else, but I seem to recall reading a post in the 3rd gen section about you having a 2.5 inch diameter catback....was that you, or do I need to lay off the crack?

Anyway, if that was you, I'd be curious to see if how much power you gain going to a larger diameter cat back...

You should be closer to 320-330 with those mods at 13psi.....something isnt right. If your running a 2.5"cat back that prob the problem

Later,

I do have the 2.5" catback. I'll take it off and see what happens, but I don't know if it's worth 40hp... Also, today on the way home, I was on the interstate for an extended amount of time and when I got off the highway, it had a very lumpy idle and would hunt between 200 and 1400 rpm. When I finally let it cool down, it hunted for 4 minutes and flattened out to a perfect 770-785. Any ideas? The intake elbow O-ring/gasket thing is broken and I have some light oil on my hood also.

Really worried,
Richard

I'd get a new O-ring. I dont think it would cause a lumpy idle but I've never had one break either.

When my motor blew the car sounded real lumpy like it had a cam but the rpm actually stayed pretty solid. Yours sounds more like its trying to die. Hopefully its not the motor.

Oh yea, a restrictive cat back can definatly make a 40hp difference on a modded car because you loose a lot of the benifit from the dp and mp when the cat back clogs it up.

Good luck,

deffinately change your exhaust system. i dont know if it will be worth 40 hp, but it will help a lot.

Wow, you should definitely be over 300RWHP. You should have pulled a lot more than I did. Before going back on the dyno, get a compression test done. I'm sure nothing is wrong with your engine. Also, 13psi is a lot of boost to be running when you didn't upgrade your injectors yet. Upgrading the injectors doesn't cost much and I strongly suggest you upgrade them before going on the dyno again. It never hurts to be on the safe side.

Richard,

If the "O" seal between the throttle body and elbow is broken, you will loose boost at that point. Any oil from the turbos or sucked into the turbos from the oil pan will also blow out there.

The idle hunting is caused by still too much air for correct idle. Close the air bleed screw some more or close the throttle with the idle set screw.

I did have a lot of oil on the hood, I was hoping that my turbos weren't losing a seal and blowing oil through. But my boost is steady at 12psi on the gauge and the boost sensor (after the elbow O ring). I'll still replace it and I'll get that idle screw turned in some more, thanks a lot.

Richard

Looking forward to the SE Atlanta Dyno Day when I can hopefully get some vengence.

Re: Dyno day results (low hp, help!!!!!)

How much heat soak? 281 on a heat soaked engine sounds just about right. I don't care what kind of fan they have, if you're on a dyno you have significantly less airflow to your intercooler and radiator. Get some ice on the intercooler and do it again.
