Cutting the wires or pulling the pins

This might be an old question, but what do you guys recommend doing? Cutting the four wires or pulling the pins on the PFC? Will those pins be needed for future use?

And another related question, I pulled my pins out of the wiring harness, but for the life of me I couldn't remember which of the 4 pins goes in which hole. In a couple years when I get emissions tested again, if they give me a hard time about no check engine light, will I be able to put the old ECU in and have things work fine without the 4 pins? Or will the light come on because EGR not plugged in? That gives me an eve better idea, are those 4 pins only for the EGR? does the EGR have a plug you could just disconnect?

I think you are confused. You pull the 4-pins on the PFC itself. Leave the wiring harness alone. The stock ecu should plug right back in. BTW, when they check emissions in Cali, they look to see if your check engine light is ON; they don't check to see if it won't operate. I would imagine it's the same in your state.

You're better off doing it from the outside. If you open the PFC and look, you won't be able to easily access the second row. Open it and you'll see what I mean.

After I pulled the pins out, it turns out there was still enough "nub" left to make a connection. So I ended up having to cut the wires on the harness anyway. Do be careful, it's very easy to disturb the other pins while your jiggling your needle nose in there.

**** it. Pulling the pins was a hassle so I just cut the wires a couple inches back in case I ever have to sauder them back together. I got my ECU in the car in about 3 minutes. I just pulled the Kick Panel, pulled the old ECU out and unplugged the harness, cut the wires and plugged the PFC in and put the kick panel back on. I then let the car idle for about 10 minutes with no fans then 10 more mis. with the fans on. Idles great, runs great. Awesome performance gains as well.
