Have DP & MP and I get a LOT of smoke at start up, but I never cut my wires...

I finally put in a real DP, and it smokes like a mother..sorta...at start up. I went for a full 1 hour drive and did not loose any coolant. It is a Blueish/Gray

Thing is I've read one of the wires to be cut is for the OMP, and then I read in another thread that it is not. So IS one of those wires for the OMP or not?

If it is, then it may explain my smokey situation at cold start up. I don't believe it is a water seal because I didnt loose any coolant and it doesnt keep smoking even after going WOT. I will also have a hard time believing I have leaky fuel injectors since I had them rebuilt about 5k miles ago, and if I had leaky oil injectors, then I'd be smoking like a mother all the time, and if I had bad turbos, I'd be smoking at WOT like a mother, too. Did I cover everything?

Mike,

So you never clipped/removed the wires that you were told to do? I don't know what consequences are involved by not doing so, maybe you are experiencing one of them.

As far as the white/blueish smoke, sounds like it could be some bad turbos. How many miles do you have on the? Are they sequential or modded to non sequential? I used to smoke blue out of the exhaust. I checked my intercooler piping and lots of oil. Turned out that my primary turbo was slowing dieing and letting oil out of the compressor and turbine "seals".

Leaky injectors would produce either a hesitation in the motor, or a bogging effect, I think. Also, if it WAS extra fuel, you would see more of a black smoke coming out of the exhaust.

Nope, I never clipped them. I have a small tiny bit of oil in the IC, but its the same amount of oil as I had in there 2 years ago. My turbos have about 40k on em.

But you see guys, thats the thing. Even if there is plenty of oil in the IC piping, I'm not boosting at startup I ran it at WOT after she was warmed up, and I don't get smokey smokey. I just installed a new o2 sensor, and honestly, I don't know how it affects it at start up. It's not really dense smoke, but enough to make me wonder. I tried to smell the smoke (almost died in the process ) and it does NOT smell like burning coolant. I was talking to a buddy that also has no cats, and he told me he also smokes a bit at start up. Well.....I would really like to find out of one of the wires that needs to be clipped is for the OMP or not. As far as I know, the OMP is like a 2 or 3 stage pump. It's either at one setting or another, and I THINK one of those wires to be cut is for one of the 3 or 4 wires that goes into the OMP.

i get smoke at start up as well. i think that just unconbusted material/oil thats being expelled. if its a constant smoking then you might have a problem. if its just at start up, then you might be ok

I wouldn't worry about it. Especially if you premix. In my 91, its has a bit of blueish/grey smoke at start up for about 10 seconds, non turbo, but I do premix. Car runs great. The 93 is premixed as well and it does the same at startup, a little smoke for about only 5 to 10 seconds with it. Coolant would be whitish, not blueish.

When Pettit rebuilt my motor and installed the mp, the car smoked like a ***** on start-up. I mean it was bad. A cloud that would envelope a parking lot. I took it back to them and the replaced a turbo cartridge. When I got it back it still did it, just a little less. I brought it back to them and showed them. They said that depending on where the rotors stop when you shut off the motor, there can be a good bit of smoke on startup. As long as it stops after about 30 seconds it shouldn't be a problem. It seems that the midpipe makes the smoke a little worse. I guess the cat used to catch some of the smoke instead of it going out the back.

That initial huge amount of smoke from a new engine was probably assembely lube.
