Power FC Changing backlighting colour on FC Commander
Changing backlighting colour on FC Commander
I was told to ask here about this mod, however I cannot find anything on it with a search, except a pic sourced from this site:

I wish to change my Power FC Commander backlighting to red to match the rest of my interior, and just to be a bit different.
Does anyone know the details for this mod? As in what is required (which parts), whether it is reliable, whether is has any permanent negative effects... etc.
Someone said I need some SMD's, and posted a link of some 1.9mm ones. Is that on the right track?
Sorry for all the questions. Thanks for your time.

i think they used some very small led strips. I remember seeing the thread. its floating around here somewhere. I believe whomever he got them from gave them to him for free, cause he said he was experimenting with a new product or something to that effect. It's all a bit fuzzy cause it was awhile ago since i read it.
I didn't get any results... I was just going to disconnect the commander, and take it to an expert in electronics, so he can see what needs to be replaced so he can order the bits and fit them.
The lengths we go to for our cars... sigh.
cewrx7r1, it may be a "waste", but if I can make it match up well, it will not make my car seem cheap, and will have that pleasant appearence, plus that custom satisfaction that it's unique.
Also might throw off unwanted attention a tiny bit.

FYI, the person who did this (years ago) didn't replace the LEDs with new ones. He removed the LEDs and inserted a thin electroluminescent panel. I think he offered to do the mod for $250 or so.
Having had one of these apart before I'll tell you that it's a real PITA. The LCD display is connected in such a way as to make you hate taking it apart in the first place. It's a pain to get aligned and put back together again.
