AVC-R and PFC

How is the Apexi AVC-R used with the PFC? Dont they control boost the same?

How does the AVC-R connect to the PFC?

i called xs engineering about this. basically you should get the boost control kit for pfc because without it the pfc will not know how much boost you are running and which fuel map to run. it can only see up to 1.2bar. i just ordered boost control kit from srx7.com. you don't need it yet till you go single turbo. i think 17.5 psi is enough for stock turbos

I thought it would control boost a little better than the PFC

I run both. The AVC-R does not connect to the PFC. I was told the solenoid and MAP sensor used with the AVC-R is the same that is used with the PFC kit. Just what I was told.

My boost is rock solid and is more adjustable in terms of boost to RPM bands.

Thanks for sharing the pics, vosko.

The MAP sensor looks different than the one that came with my AVC-R. Perhaps the AVC-R one only reads boost while the stock and boost control kit ones can read vacuum, too, or something. I don't know -- I am just speculating why they would use two different ones.

After trying to hook up the stock solenoid to control my external wastegate unsuccessfully, I bought an AVC-R. Using the stock solenoid might work, but it would take some more trial and error than I have the patience for right now.

If you weren't going to run more than 17 psi (the limit the stock MAP sensor can read), it might make sense to just buy a solenoid. I might even try that before I install the AVC-R control unit.

well i have the xs t04s kit coming and i want to run around 20-22 psi on the track. so i had to have the boost control kit. don't worry i have more than enough fuel for it. i'm just going to need alot of tuning. i heard the boost kit was discontinued so i jumped on the opportunity to get one.

Ouch. saw that. I am thinking that there is no way that I am NOT going to have to send my unit in at some point in time. no matter when or what single I eventually go with. this it good information to know that at least I know what to ask for when I have to send it in.
