20B engine stand adaptors

Our normal engine stands do not accomodate a 20B (3-rotor) without modification (drilling new holes and using spacers). We did this intentionally, as it is only marginally safe with all that weight and 10mm fasteners with loose spacers. If you want to mount one, we will tell you how but the risk is your own. 20Bs should really have a specialized stand with integrated spacers, providing better support and multiple shear-planes. Well, we finally got around to making one. The actual adaptor is no thicker (doesn't need to be) but we punched a couple 1 inch thru-holes and run 1" OD, 1/4" wall spacers through the plate and weld them in, permanently. We also widened the flange and added another bolt hole at the bottom, totalling 4 fasteners overall. Much more secure, having the different shear-planes, more fasteners and more purchase area. Now, you can even dress the engine on the stand, without worrying that the weight is too much.

These are in the fabricator's hands now, getting a sample made to verify fitment. After that, we will make a whole run of them to sell. I anticipate having them available within a month at a price yet to be determined.

Ours works fine, as it was designed to be strong enought to handle the 3 rotor with out any problems, in fact we have used ours for years and several different 3 rotors rebuilt on the stand and all of the accessories............

We too have used the 13B adaptors for 20Bs for years, here in the shop, but it is too dangerous to sell to the public for that purpose. The little 13B has big 12mm studs, but the significantly heavier and more awkward 20B only uses 10mm fasteners with two of them spaced over an inch out. If the spacers are not welded on, that is a lot of force going through those baby fasteners on the same shear plane. Perhaps you are brave enough to sell a 13B adaptor for use with a 20B, but I think it is ethically wrong and poses too much liability risk.

The test piece turned out great, so we are going ahead with production. About two weeks for fabrication and another week for powdercoating.

Just got back the first batch of 20B engine stand adaptors from CNC cutting. The weld-in spacers were here last week. We have our fab guy welding them up in the jig today and tomorrow. Then, they go off to powdercoating. These things are awesome. Waaaaaaaaay stronger than half-assing it with a 13B engine stand. Price looks to be right around $75 plus shipping. I will post pics later today or tomorrow.

Here are the pics of the new 20B Rotary Engine Stand Adaptor in action. As you can see, we have some beefy 1" spacers that actually go all the way through the bracket and are welded on both sides. This eliminates a major weak link, where all the mounting surfaces were on the same sheer plane, as when you have loose mounted spacers on the surface of the adaptor. The second bolt at the bottom of the bracket also helps by taking one of the bolts out of the otherwise straight line of the rest of the fastener. This uses a total of four M10 bolts. You just can't have too many, with all that weight.
