the only thing I can add is to make sure that the rotations are the same, the rotary is clockwise and I am unsure of the toyota motors, I know the lexus/toyata V8s are clockwise; not sure about the four cylinders though.

Hey Umlunchablebox, I now have a 2006 Scion xB, and i was actually interested in doing the same thing. I was wondering how the project turned out, or how it's going, since has been about 14 years. I was really hoping to see if it actually happened on this forum or if you put it on one of the other forums.
