RX-3's are better why not just get one of them, and for the holly grail gen 1,2 or 3 RX-7

The MX3 was FWD amd it is harder to put a rotary in it as madza does not make a FWD rotary tranmission for it..

Like Dan said, it's next to impossible. Not totally impossible if you plan on exceeding your car's actual value by tenfold in build costs, but chances are if you own an MX-3, you probably cannot afford to do a rotary swap into one.

Lol , its actually my friend.. he has an MX-3 and he loves that car.. I think it has some sentimental value to him , he knows that it would be difficult , and that it requires a rwd conversion , but he sold his done-out talon , so he wants a sleeper project

tell your friend to buy my GTX. LOL
the mx3 in my opinion was never menat to handle power.
but if he goes through with the project, be sure it gets named,
US government. by that i mean you keep throwing money at it
but it never get better and you will never get you rmoney back out of it.

Haha, I have an MX3 too, and I also love it. They are so crazy looking; I originally bought the car for dirt cheap to resell it, but couldn't bring myself to.
I honestly must say that once on www.mx-3.com I saw someone posting something about their rotary MX3. I toyed with the idea since I have an FC that I am basically putting a new engine in it, but I would also have to rape the driveline of my FC and the MX3 just isn't worthy of the amazing RX7 rearend.

i've heard of something like a rotary mx3 before but im not sure if it was real or not, i personally dont see the point in going through with it when you can just get a 2nd gen for about the price of an mx3, you can find time to love the rx7 with all the time you save just buying a vehicle with a rotary instead of changing one to it.

There's several AWD MX-3s so I assume a RWD tranny could be put in there. I don't know the amount of work needed though ...

why not just install the Cosworth Mazda engine that is used in the Atlantic series?

considering they are people that run the real race teams that use those motors i would say a person ie. a human being could buy one.

why must people get me started?
I am doing a Rotary Miata project...long painful process
and I have a MX-3 V6 sitting in my folks back yard. Now people are talking about the Cosworth engine again... It was a thought in the miata but in the MX3? I had never thought of anything more than a KL-ZE or DE... Turbo charged

If you want to play w/ the mx-3 that IMHO is the way to go.

Rotary is Painful to get in that car...
redo the rear and front and It WILL work. W/ an unlimited budget..ANYTHING can work.

BTW.. cosworth miata is nice but at 300 HP why not turbo a 1.8 and hit 300-350 at 15-18 PSI. I got to about 270-275 w/ the 1.6 Turbo'd @ 18PSI.

enjoy my rant and sorry If i rained on any parades.
