Has anyone ever considered a Nissan VG?
I have been looking onto other swaps into the FC. I guess just to be different in my own right such as the SR20, 4G63, ect. It would seem to me that the VG30DETT would be the best bang for the buck. Even better than the LS1. A front clip can be had for as little as 1500USD. A far cry from the average of 3K-4K for the LS1 and T56. I have even thought about the VQ30DET from the Gloria, but there is little to no aftermarket for that engine. I heard that Grant from Granny's is making a mount kit for the FC using his SBC cradle. What do you guys think?

I'd still like to see you build one, I love the hybridized FC's, theyre great platforms for any swaps.

i'm thinkin about the 24 valve DOHC mazda engine found in the 929's, the only problem i've run across is the '89 yr is the only one to come with a 5 spd but no DOHC. I'm tryin to find away around that. But i'm not tryin to make serious power, just somethin to cruise with and get decent mileage. plus corksport is selling jdm motors for like $800 usually with accessories, and theirs are turbo'd. just a thought

Twin Turbo LSX
One word. "Heavy"
My old room mate swapped a lt1 into his z32 and the car lost weight.
Also, are you aware of how much room those engine's require and how expensive they are to modify?

I seem to remember someone that swapped in the V6 from a Maxima and used a 350z tranny, I believe. Not the most practical swap but definately different. Also, the DOHC v6's are large and heavy, similar to the DOHC Ford V8s. Good engines but run into fitment issues. Why not go with a SBC if you just want a cruiser? Or a LT1. They can be had for very cheap and there is a lot more support for them.

If you want to autocross, wouldn't it make sense to put in the lightest, most powerful engine you could find. In that case, you should be thinking LS1. Also, if you've ever autocrossed, you know that it's not about horsepower, and the last thing you want in a tight autocross course is for boost to kick in at 4000 RPM as you exit a a corner. The broad powerband of the LS1 means you will be able to control torque at any RPM. The LS1 will also be much lighter than any engine with DETT in the title.
