As far as a rotary in an impreza, that's also the only one i've ever seen and the first thing i thought of when i saw this thread.

you can stop personally attacking me now if that's ok, I only see one person acting like a child here and that would be you. I'm not sure why you think being disrespectful is an acceptable means to communicate but I guess that is the way things work on forums these days. I've only been on here for seven years so I really wouldn't know anything about that.

I'm not personally attacking you. Sorry if you feel that way. Truth be told, the first thing that I thought of when I saw this thread was that very same Imprezza but I didn't post up that exact same pic that I have saved, nor did I even mention it BECAUSE IT IS COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT. That is the only point that I am trying to make but like I said a few posts back, you are going to battle me on it. We're not talking about a rotary in an imprezza that you brought up. We're talking about dreamers and swapping a Subi boxer into an FC.

i too am gunna be the ******* to bring this from the dead...but reading through i saw a lot of hate and little info...i am tempted to do this though as i have a EJ255 just about ready to go into my RS...but i miss my FC sooo much i thought to try and do this...only issue i see right now is the post in here about the steering column not working...any more info on that?? cause my buddy said he measured up the EJ33 to his brothers FC chassis and it would fit....tightly...but if i can get some more info on the steering i might go ahead and try it out.... (id do it myself but im currently deployed to afghanistan right now....lol)

This is very true.
Getting the swapped engine/trans in place is actually the easiest part of the project- and almost the cheapest.

The domino effect of such a swap is unbelievably pervasive, you'll end up in every nook and cranny of the car before you finish and it gets increasingly difficult to muster the will to keep chasing down the details.

I wish the OP success and would like to see documentation of his project.

Edit: Oopsie, didn't bother checking the dates.
I guess TTT was right.

Anything is possible. As clokker mentioned, fitting the engine is not usually a big deal. It's the other stuff that takes time and skill.

My suggestion would be to just go ahead and do it if you are confident enough. You are more likely to get bullshit answers from people making assumptions by asking questions on this kind of topic around here.

Any problem can be solved if you are serious about working them out.

I have worked on subarus and RX7s and had the engines out of both. I have also swapped a 20b as well as an ls1 into an RX7.

From my experience I would say you are looking at an above average level of difficulty swap but I would love to see it done. Let us know if you decide to tackle it.

I hate to post in this old thread but i must. Frame is too narrow, I've considered it myself. Don't want the rotary in my TII, my shop has a few ej25 laying around. So i said why not.

But once i broke the tape measure out its way too complicated and too much fab work is involved for it to be even remotely plausable. Sorry but like mentioned before, tube frame or bust

As a former Subaru owner (02' Impreza, 525whp), I must chime in and say that the EJ is about the dumbest engine you could chose for a swap. I think the only good reason would be, as above, if the motor was flat-out free.

Found a guy that made bell housings mainly for making 4g63s rwd and begged and pleaded with him. And also chopped up a tranny, sent a bunch Of clutch parts and a year and a half later I had this beauty in my hands.

He is currently casting and selling them.

I'm actually going out of town tomorrow.

The guy that builds them actually is in your end of the world, at least the state anyways.
