BLASPHEMY! EJ25 in an FC (The project begins)

Okay, since there's not really a "conversion forum" here on the club. I thought i'd just post this here.

I find myself if the awkward position of having a 1990 FC with no power plant or transmission, save the rear end. Now to make things more awkward I also have the engine from a 2005 STi extra from a swap deal gone awry. I was looking at the two of them and I thought to myself.

"Damn I bet that could fit in my FC if I put the trans from a TII on it."

I don't have the Transmission yet, but i've been thinking about it and the more I look into it the more I like the idea.

It's not that I hate rotaries but I just happen to have an extra engine lying around and I don't have a rotary engine on hand. So I figure why not. I know it's going to be a pain in the *** in terms of money and Fabrication but who knows, in the end I may just end up having a truly unique FC.

Hate all you want I just want some feedback.

Actually, yes there is. Its called the "other engine" section.

Anyway, good luck with the swap, those engines can be beasts.

go for it man could be cool, but be prepared to pay as much (or more) to do the conversion as it would be to get a TII engine and tranny.

well I just went out and measured the Strut towers on the fc and they're 33 1/2" apart and the EJ is about 31" side to side. so it should fit.

man that engine would be badass in a 70s porsche 911 chassis those are cheap and u could build a 930 killer... would be hella exotic.

but gl. make sure u dump it on coilovers and badass rims, might as well go all out if ur gonna do it.

that's the plan.

I was looking at some TEINs with the EDFC gizmo. I'm just worried that the EJ25 will weigh too much compared to the 13b.

You'd have better luck with the Suby trans (which is junk unless it's a STi) and blocking off the front axle holes.

I remember Nihl saying that this would not work for some reason. Something that it could not sit low enough in the frame or far enough back or something like that.

well I measured the engine i have, the best I could and then I climbed in the engine bay of my FC and I think it should work. The only thing I'm worried about is hood clearance. But I think that if I use some kind of Liquid to air or FMIC i should be okay.

Besides guys are able to shoe horn LS1's into that engine bay. so the EJ25 should fit.

Unless you went with a tube frame up front like a lot of the hot rod guys do.

Don't forget they're most likely a terrorist too.

I like the idea of the EJ25 in an FC. The increase in torque would be a welcome change, and it would be a total mindfuck when you hear the boxer rumble coming out of an FC. I'm kind of worried about space issues, but I hope it will work out. Best of luck to you, sir.

Someone beat me to mentioning it, but if you did it and kept the AWD, that would be so friggin super-sick!! I say, as long as you have another RX-7 around with the rotary in it, GO for it! Be a pioneer! Do the writeup!

Good luck to you sir!
