This will never happen., Total pipe dream. You lack basic knowledge to even come close to making this work. I wish you luck, & I pray you have friends with talent asnd skill and you have a large checkbook to just pay for everything. There are so many more measurements to take into consideration than just shock tower to shock tower. Hood clearance is something that I would've look at second. I'm not even going to bother, just going to keep checking in

What swaps have you done before? I would like to know your background before doubting.

Well, while I agree with the others that it would be bad ***, and would be truly unique, if you look at this realistic perspective, then the plan seems kind of not worth it.

Here's why: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2004-...spagenameZWD1V

I don’t know exact ej 25 prices, but assuming your engine is an STi spec (why else would you swap it, right? ) and that's somewhere near retail, you can purchase a JDM complete long block with transmission, ecu, harness, everything for around $2000 in good condition. Since most JDM engines really only have about 70,000~80,000 miles on them usually, they should not need excessive rebuilds and a refresh should suffice.

So, for the money you could get from selling that engine. you can get a rebuilt 13B turbo engine, put that in a car in about a week or so, and have a perfect, functioning FC that will serve you for years to come.

This option may not be cool and unique, but from a rational business perspective, it just makes a hella lot more sense to me.

It's not hate that is pouring from me. It's an EPIC amount of doubt. The reality of it is that most people when they try to do these things have NO idea what they are getting into and in a few months there will be roller for sale on RX7Club and an engine for sale on NASONIC. Sorry, but that is the trend. I'm on month 20 TWENTY! of a 13B-RE swap. No granted there are more one-off parts on my car than most others and I don't cut corners but lets be realistic here. What swaps have you done, what tools do you own, and how deep are your pockets?

no i don't have that link but ill keep my eye out for another. i cant imagine many people having a use for one. also try advanced adapters. they may have one on file that they can just make for you. they will make anything. i have considered using them for many a project.

All good questions. No doubt that it is a trend that has been followed time and time again. But I have been working on engines and cars for the past six years, (Ford, mopar, Subaru, Toyota) i'll be taking my ASE exam this fall. I've swapped several different muscle car engines before. a 1974 Plymouth valiant with a slant six got a mild 360 swap. a 300zx got an ls1. and a 1971 ford f-100 got a cummins 6bt. I've done a stock swap of a blown ford four cylinder 1.9 to a functional ford but that was pretty much a straight swap, and no modification needed. I've also helped to wire a 1970 GTO drag special.

But that's not really the point now is it. You can hate all you want, and I really don't care. But if i'm going to have to prove myself before I can get constructive advice then maybe this board isn't the place for advice from mature mechanics.

yeah it does make more sense to do the 13b. But i've just got the parts here and i'm game for something new. SO while i do appreciate the advice i think that it's be a great deal of fun to play around with this kind of swap.

nice. yes ths board isn't good for info anymore seeing as you are right about proving yourself cause the mature mechanics hate all people new the the cars cause they dont seem to relise without the new people 95% of FCs would end up scrapped and turning into a Kia. but if we go off statistics TTT is right most swaps get past engine and tranni mounting then to electrical where the swap dies and gets parted out. but i wish you best f luck sir.

Like I said, I'm not hating. I'm helping a good friend swap an LSX into his FC, I swapped a motor, it's not the swap it's the amount of 16yo dreamers on this board that have been given alot of advice and done nothing with it.

If your only satisfaction was looking for doubters then I don't understand. If you have such a depth of knowledge and experience why even bother, wouldn't the logical thing to have done be do it and then come brag about it, instead of bragging but not doing anything.....

This board has more experienced builders and mechanics than you can think of, most just lurk and don't post in such threads you are lucky you even got TitaniumTT's advice.

I am with TTT on this one... this is one of those projects that get about 1/4 of the way done when the person realizes its way too much work and money to complete... it then becomes an eye sore sitting next to the house until they finally cut it up for scrap metal

Thanks to Dradon and Bastard.

To the guys who said do it and then brag as opposed to looking for attention and then failing - good call

To the kid who posted the Subi with the 13B-REW....... why would you post that? What relevance does that have? That car has about 2 or 3 extra zeros on the end of the budget and we all know anything is possible with enough bread tossed at it soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

I agree, we have been seeing too many of these cool but half baked ideas.

But at the same time I think these "kids" have the right to dream and for all you know this guy might actually make this work maybe not a month from now maybe not even 5 years from now but one day.

I know I have long term projects.

Maybe there should be a dreamer section where people can talk about their concepts for new creative projects. That way those of us who are tired of seeing it don't have to.

FIRST, I am not a "kid" so don't assume such

SECOND, what is NOT relevant about an impreza with an RX-7 engine when the thread is concerning an RX-7 with an impreza engine? Neither concept makes a whole lot of sense, but people will do what they are determined to do, here is a finished example of that fact.

By that logic the V8RX7 forums should all have a section where they post pics of cars that have rotaries swapped into them. It was an irrelevant post, completely ***-backwards, and you, being a kid, are now going to fight me to the death becuase I dis-agree with you. Way to go.

we aren't talking about something that has been done like a v8 rx7, we've got enough of those that they have their own forum. I think what we're talking about is something that no one has actually seen yet, an EJ in an rx7. As far as a rotary in an impreza, that's also the only one i've ever seen and the first thing i thought of when i saw this thread.

you can stop personally attacking me now if that's ok, I only see one person acting like a child here and that would be you. I'm not sure why you think being disrespectful is an acceptable means to communicate but I guess that is the way things work on forums these days. I've only been on here for seven years so I really wouldn't know anything about that.
