Interesting build, I've saw a lot of different motors in air cooled VWs, but this is one I would actually consider

I'm building something quite similar, but going with the rad up front, my 67 was rough when i got it, so dont feel too bad about making cuts to have a more practical install of the rotary!

Nice to see other rotobugs!

Cool build. Any updates?

I am very interested to see how you tackle the radiator issue and keep it looking clean.

UPDATE!!!

So far everything is moving in a positive direction. After losing the battle with carburetors, I took some time to really understand them. I then rebuilt my 600 Holley and finally got the thing to start my engine up (even in fairly cold weather). Now I just need to make sure that it can work good enough to try out the radiator configuration that I'm trying. I will be placing the radiator up front in the original location of the fuel tank. Since it's perfect for a radiator and I think it will look as if it was built for it. Once I know that the radiator performs well, I will then switch over to fuel injection using the Megasquirt. I have gone through so much more headaches throughout this project that I wish I documented. I did take some photos of me hopefully, successfully re-installing the exhaust sleeves without disassembling the engine.

Hope to have some video of the thing running and moving soon, also with all the weird custom things that have and will be fabricated....

Thanks!!! It really helps me push through this build to see everyone's positive comments. Yes at times I truly believe that this engine was built for this car, after all Wankel was German. I totally would kill to have this engine and drive train front mounted in this car, or even mid engine would be awesome. Some day I do plan on trying to build one of these along with other Rotary swaps....
