This thing is awesome. I had a friend that put a 13BREW in a Karman Ghia, similar struggles. Very nice.

Update,

Still here everyone! I've actually been driving my rotary bug daily and its been working great! I haven't really changed anything other than installing the deck lid. I've done many freeway runs (100 mi.+) and it did excellent! Even without any forced air into the radiator it runs cooler than at idle with fans on. On these cold days (60's) I can run in town without the fans on...but the real test is during summer (100's+) & up the i5 to Los Angeles @70 MPH. Right now it's a real gas hog, about 16 mpg highway @ 70 MPH. My O2 sensor at that speed reads at 14.0 , so that might be a bit rich. Also my RPM at that speed is about 3900.

I am currently working on another S4 turbo engine with all megasquirt EFI installed.

I meant 100 mi + distance sustained, although I have had it above 100 mph, the speedo was pointing straight down and with this engine, it gets there with ease. But, IT IS SCARY!

Hello,

At the moment I am ready to install the complete turbo set up on mega squirt. There are a few minor things in my way from making it a permenant and clean install, but I have all the major problems out of the way. If you look back at some of the questions I posted you will see where I'm coming from. The good news is that now I have two engines (1 6-port or normally non-turbo and 4-port or normally turbo) ready to run in almost any configuration I want.

If you have any question's please ask? I had a hard time with this project because I couldn't sort out minor problems....

Thanks for the interest and good luck on your project 😎

Thanks, should get the car in 2-3 weeks then I'll post some pictures and try to get it going and do some upgrades. Are you considering selling the turquoise '67 bug with the 13b NA AS-IS? I was thinking rather then tearing apart this setup and installing the turbo II you were showing, maybe you want to recoup some money and get a different bug for the turbo II. Let me know either way pls. You can PM me as well. thanks

Help needed with throttle linkage

Hello again, here I am posting a picture of my Magnum GT with a 13b and a Holley 600, very similar setup to your 13b NA. When I got the car the throttle linkage was hanging down loose and I am having hard time figuring out where and how to re-connect it to the Holley. Could you please upload a closeup picture of your throttle linkage. I would be very grateful.

Cool man!
Would love to see more pics. Do you know what the #s are on your carb? It look exactly like my model. A little tip, I had a hard time getting my carb to work with the auto vacuum secondaries and the electric choke. I linked the secondaries with the main to open slightly delayed and it works great, even though it's frowned upon. My carb does run rich throughout most of the operation and slightly lean on the initial acceleration (due to not having the secondary pump). I'm not sure of the size of my metering jets but I do want to try some smaller ones to lean it out on the top end (freeway speed), to bring my AFRs from 13.9 to around 15.5.
Looking forward to seeing this thing run, keep me up to date!

Update,

Hello everyone, still running the rotary on my bug and its doing great. I took it on one of the most strenuous runs yet (Sustained). About 400 miles in one day 6 hours of driving time to the coast and back. It was a hot day 106 in the valley. Incredibly my gas mileage maxed out to about 26 mpg @ 67 mph. Keep in mind I have a 2 gallon tank that I had to be refill every 52 miles. I haven't changed the carb setting so I'm not sure of the cause of the improving gas mileage, it just keeps improving. Maybe the outside temp is one cause???
