nice car, but no-one is buying at that price. way too modified, it will be worth relatively little once everything is old and worn.

there is another 2 coupe on ebay at the moment which looks almost stock, as far as i can tell, THAT's the one you want.

Saw that one too..

For that amount it would have to be a fully restored mint mint mint mint better then new rx2 in full original glory.
The 3 r100's went for 50k and those are worth more then this one!
a lot of money has been spent here, but if you spend money on non-oem stuff it does not add any real value. its just a modified car, nothing more nothing less...

Agreed, it's a beautiful car, but IMO, only worth what someone is willing to pay. Guys dump silly money into projects and expect to recoupe their investment, but very few ever do. In fact, seeing rediculously high "Buy it NOW" or reserve pricing is one of my pet peeves. I saw a pristine low mileage silver Gen 1 GSL-SE that was bid up to $15K last year on Ebay and it didn't even trip the reserve. I mean, c'mon, really? What's the point? Are people ACTUALLY serious about selling with these crazy high reserve prices? Let the market determine true value, or sell it on Hemmings or some other collectible web site.

I agree with you on the 3 r100 , even at 50k that was a good buy ,they were complete and original . Maybe Jay Leno will buy the rx2 on e bay ? (or at least this guy hopes so) . I'm an old school guy and it sucks to see all this price gouging going on with e bay . Most of the time I don't sell my parts , I'll just trade because it's good to know that someone can use it on there resto project .

$150,000 on restoration? Must have been paying a premium on labor/hr....

I would think he is messing around with that high starting bid, but who knows. Car is maybe worth 50k overseas where the market is much more valuable. But USA i could see mid 20s with right boyfriend, if that.

agreed, i've helped restore similar cars for less than 1/10th of what he is bullshitting there.

twin dizzies are what the deuces actually came with, however almost no one actually retains them nor the original 12A 6mm carbon seal engine.

twin dizzys.. ha ha, they never make sense the first time you see 'em.

all the 10a's are twin dizzy and the early 12a's, up to about 73/74 i think were twin dizzy.

if it's original and stock and pre-74, it'll have two of those bad boys.

here's the orange one:

herschel orange i think the resto gurus will call that colour.. i call it baby poo brown and usually score a kick in the nuts from the mazda nerds. one of my favourite factory paints.

dash top isn't factory, the seats have been re-trimmed (i think). could be wrong, but i thought they had little capella emblems in them, might just be Aus delivered models.

here's the modded one:

sittin a bit high at the front relative to the rear, might cause a bit more understeer than usual. i dunno. look better when they're level.

looks like a LOT of quality work has been done to that car. dude could easily have spent that amount of money on it.. money gone now.....

In the S.F. bay area the high front end is called the Oakland lean (A1 STYLE) .At the price he wants a turbo would have been nice . I'v been sick with the flu all week so spare time hasen't been an issue LOL.The rims on the black car are terrible ,the front turn signals are from Thailand , and who needs a tilt column . The appraisal looks like he did it himself on a typewriter . I have some prehistoric rabbit **** with an appraisal any one want to give me 10k for it LOL

He also claims the paint is original, which I believe is true. The Capella emblems only came in the sedans. The seats have been reupholstered, he said so in the video, but you can tell because the pattern is stamped in the vinyl from the factory, the pattern in these seats was stitched. Pretty good imitation of the original though.

"0" bids?!?! I can't believe someone hasn't jumped on this deal! If he gets half his starting price I'm going to double the value of mine in my financial statement. And mine has pro racing history!

this pic looks like a whole new rear section was built up with the later series tail light panel slotted in:

still, 'reserve not met' price aside, this is an awesome car, just needs injection and maybe a turb.

I wonder if it even runs properly...

Its in "driveable" condition?
That could mean a lot, and since it is only driven up and off the trailer to car shows only...

For that amount, there should atleast be a dynosheet available

street port with a holley.. 120kw's? plus the car must weigh a whole heap more than standard with all those goodies like power windows etc... won't be fast by modded rx standards.

still can't get over the fact that it scored a carbie after a '$150k' spend.

rear camera but no injection? c'mon, man.

i can think of much more to do with a $150,000 investment than a car that in all history has probably never fetched more than $30k.

part it out!

even if he managed to get it to a Barrett Jackson auction he will be disappointed in the offers. may as well just be buried in it.

" The Capella emblems only came in the sedans," - Not true.
Mazda really mixed and matched the badges. I owned two series one coupes back in NZ that were true survivor cars that were badged as Capellas. When you read through the multitude of posts on this subject you will find Mazda was not very consistent.

ok, might've been the case in Oz, too, though i don't believe we scored the coupes after 73/74, only ever had round tail light models in coupe, mostly square headlights. i can never keep up with this stuff.

the 2's i owned had the round tail lights, which i prefer.

anyway.. $90k zomg!!!!1!!

For $150k i would of bought a restored Cosmo Sport, and a Kenmeri. Would probably have some left over cash for a nice vacation to japan! lol
