same boat, the old engines just didn't last but do have a fair amount of collector value in my opinion. but how much a good condition running old school motor is worth is up to the market to decide. everything is only worth what someone is willing to spend.
someone who wants an engine comprised of 95% discontinued parts is stuck with the very very few left out there still in running condition.

the rotor housings in near perfect condition aren't really worth a whole lot IMO. the chrome is too thin for use in later model hard seal 3mm 12A engines. the housings are almost always in great shape due to the carbon seals that the engines ran.
the only compromise that i could see using the older rotor housings would be either to have the 6mm carbons duplicated or run ceramics. i'm considering rebuilding this engine and fabricating a set of ceramic seals for it, maybe a collector would be interested down the road but who knows..
still needs to be bead blasted but for now the parts are just going to be display pieces.

It spins great and has compression. I have not tested it with a compression tester though. I got it, and a bunch of other NOS parts from a gentalman that use to race an RX-3. I have a bunch of carbon 6mm rotor seals and other NOS parts. I even have some engine rotors that have double side seals.

sounds like you have something to restore it with, i wouldn't trust the original seals to hold up though currently in the engine. even then the engines had a hard time making it past 30k miles before the seals would start to rapidly deteriorate, get stuck from carbon or blow out under light detonation from a poorly kept fuel system.
a local guy also had a ton of old school 12A parts, i contacted him about buying the 12A housings until i remembered he mainly had the old 6mm engine parts so i passed on the lot.
unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a lot of interest in the nostalgia of these old engines due to their unreliability. but it's cool to see the NOS stuff still floating around.
