how do I do a VIN check on a car with less than 17 didget VIN ie RX3?


can anyone check a number for me please?

 

im not sure where to get them either, i ran into this problen when i tryed to VIN check my 79 SA

 

There are no Vin checks available for pre 81 vehicles.

 

The best you can really do is to run Mazda's VIN against the rest of the car. Speaking from the RX-2s, you can check the VIN against the door dag (riveted into the driver's door jamb) and firewall. You can also look to see if the trunk is raised to make room for a taller tank (thirsty rotary) and if the beaver panel is original (most RX-2s had 4 round taillights vs the trapezoidal cutout for the Capella, so you can check the sheetmetal).

You can check to see that your RX-3 wasn't originally an 808, if it matters to you, but that's about it. If you're looking for a vehicle history, then your only savior will be some time under the car and a magnet in your pocket.
