Hmmm...Well, I was planning on adding a Supra TT to the driveway later this year. Guess I'll wait.

Do u guys think it'll still be a 2-rotor? Or will they go big w/ a 3-rotor (turbocharged)?

edit: the next 7 (assuming its coming)

Well, considering Mazda didn't even think a 3 rotor would be smart for our shores (they sent the 20B Cosmo to OZ but not here), with Ford at the helm we're guaranteed never to see one in the states. If the Rx-8 and future rotary cars do so good that they out sell Mustangs, which is when Hell freezes over, then we might get the 20B.

Heck, I think Ford sold 3 billion Mustangs in my area last year, going by the number I've seen on the road.

Mazda should just offer a 3 rotor. It would meet everyone's criteria...it would put out more hp and tq..and still be very reliable.

The MPS performance version of the RX-8 would be perfect in N/A 20B Renesis form. We don't need turbo's..you can always have them as an after market option.

I am almost positive you could get the same kind of performance numbers from a 20B Renesis as you would with a turbo. Cost wise, yes the turbo is the best bang for the buck...but....

I think that the R&T interview with Philip Martens is definately confirmation of a next gen rx7.

Q: Are you saying that there's room for both an RX7 & RX8 in the US?

A: I think so. In fact, I would say that there would have to be. In my vision, Mazda should have a strong range of sports cars that supports a strong range of sedans and SUV's.

It was also stated that:
"Essentially, what we want at Mazda is a family of sports cars globally. We want one in the high-end segment--in the $40,000 to $50,000 range--and then one where the RX-8 will be slotted and, of course, a compact roadster.

Now, don't that last statement just scream;
RX7(We want one in the high-end segment--in the $40,000 to $50,000 range) for that range you know there would have to be a heavily turboed/supercharged version.
RX8(and then one where the RX-8 will be slotted)
Miata(and, of course, a compact roadster.)

Sounds pretty convincing right

Well, if the future 50K Rx-7 is to use the Rx-8 chasis, and the fully loaded Rx-8 is 30K, then ya got about 20K or more to play with. That's plenty for a NA Renesis 20B upgrade and all the suspension goodies you'd want.

Or, Hell, a turbo Renesis 20B! Uh, can you say 500hp?

Sound like my sh*t without the upgrades, I think we need 400 BHP and weight under 3000 lbs. for 2004. The competitions getting tough.

next rx7

idiots cant u see that the rx8 is the next rotary. there wont be a 4th gen rx7. the rx8 is the 4th gen rx7 in a way. i am kew with the fact that there is the dawn of a
new rotary but not as an rx7. i have a third gen rx7 and i dont think they should make a new rx7 cuz the 7
is one of a kind and there cantttt be anything to replace it. im so glad that the rx-evolve didnt turn out to be the
next rx7, but another version the rx8. i have a third gen 7 and think that mazda is done with the 7. like nissan there is no talk of a new 300z but the 350z.
who else is still dreaming of a 4th gen rx7 will just be dreaming.

Mazda themselves say there will be three rotary powered cars in their lineup... the RX-8, a small roadster, and an all-out performance coupe. Take that to mean "RX-8, rotary Miata, and 4th-gen RX-7".

The RX-7 is NOT one-of-a-kind. There were three versions of the RX-7 sold, and it is not Mazda's first attempt at a 2-seater sports rotary. (Remember the L10A Cosmo, Mazda's first rotary powered production car?)

I don't get what you're saying about the 350Z... it is the next Z. Of course it's not a 300Z because it doesn't have a 3-liter engine in it...

If the Renisis engine is everything that Mazda says it is, I can't imagine them using it in only one car. But, I think it all depends on how the RX-8 sells. Mazda needs to really market the 8 and educate people on the rotary, or it's not going to sell... just like the 3rd gen 7.
