Technical Question - Different sizes of water seals
Hi guys,
I was wondering if anyone here has ever come across different sizes of water seals?
I tried to assemble my twin dizzy 12A at the the weekend and found that the inner water seals from the water retention kit were too big to fit into the grooves in the housings.
The engine is a 12A twin dizzy from a series 1 RX2 (1971). It is one of the very early engines because it has the gear driven oil pump attached to the inside of the front cover.
I tried the seals in later 12A housings and 13B cast irons and they fit just fine, so I know the seals are good.
The seals I have are for an FB RX7. I do NOT want to "cut and shut" the seals.
Has anyone seen this before?
Does anyone know which seals are the right seals to use?
Does anyone have experience with 10A seals?
Thanks!
