Cool SiRMarlons Project Repu

What's up everyone, just wanted to drop by and re-introduce myself to you guys! The name is Marlon and even though I've been a member of the forum for a while I never really posted much. This is not my 1st rodeo when it comes to project cars or Rotaries. But as the Project car itch got bigger I knew I wanted something smog exempt and considering that all my current friends are Old School Rotary heads it was only fitting.

So my good buddy Said was gracious enough to sell me his recently acquired REPU. After some negotiating we we struck a deal for this beauty right here. It's a 75 and she is really clean. No rust on the truck, it's all patina and it's super straight and most importantly COMPLETE. The truck has not been pillaged.

The only downside is it sounds like the front rotor might have a stuck seal. I won't be able to really tell until I pick up the truck and really check it out. I will get a compression test done and find out for sure. But I am going to try some Miracle Oil and ATF to see if that does anything. If none of that stuff works, then I will have to find a working motor to get it running. I'd like to drive it around for a bit before I really start to tear into it.

I am pretty excited though! Glad to have a Project Truck to help me pass my time. My weekends were getting pretty boring! So this should help fill some time. Gonna go pick it up later this afternoon when I get off work! Stay tuned for updates!

Awesome. I been thinking of getting rid of the race car project so I can replace it with a REPU. I just can't commit...

Really I just need more space.

Yeah I like them a lot as well. Part of the deal was the steelies stayed on the truck.

They are from a base model Nissan Titan. Rolling on some sticky Continentals. Plans for the truck right now are to try to get this motor running right. I took off the carb last night and dumped some ATF gonna turn it over a few times pour in a little more and let it sit for a few days to see if we can get the seals unstuck from the front rotor.

I've always wanted to build a Pro-Touring truck, so most of my project money will probably go into building a chassis for the truck on the side so that I can still drive this thing around.

Mr. Almoststockrepu is building what I had in mind so I am definately going to go to him for advice because this IS my end game with the truck right here... I love driving up in the Canyons so this is a must at least for me.

As for the motor I am going to go boost, so the plan is to buy a complete Turbo II or FD motor, but that probably won't come until after the new chassis is done. It's gonna be a long build, I want to enjoy the truck the way it is right now for a while, so I am going to clean it up real nice, replace the current buckets with a nice bench seat, remove all the surface rust and enjoy it while I gather all the big parts on the side.

I built a really clean CRX a few years back, that build taught me a lot. It taught me not to misspend my money on re-doing **** twice. To get what I want, and to just save my money to get quality parts, if it takes me 2-3 years to complete the build then it takes me 2-3 years. But in the end I will have what I want. So that is the plan.

Buy a frame and build it while you are driving yours. That's what I would have done if mine would have had a motor in it when I started.

I was thinking of doing that...but rust free frames are hard to find. I was thinking of maybe just building a new chassis for it. Go to the metal supply shop and buy some square tubing. All my knowledge from building and fabbing on my rock crawler should come in handy with this thing. I gotta see which one will be more cost effective.

It would be pretty neat to see you build a completely new frame. Maybe set the rear up for IRS since you want it to be a canyon carver as well?

That thought has crossed my mind and it's something I am going to ask about when I call CA Chassisworks. I am sure that setting up an IRS will probably cost more then a traditional live axle 4 Link. But even with the 4 link it should handle a lot better then with the leaf springs.

But will see, I do have a 300ZX Turbo rear end sitting in the garage that I could use

It would be more expensive and time consuming, but I always love some nice fabrication. Haha
