Rx8 or 3rd gen Rx7???

Hi guys. I dunno if i should buy a 2004 Rx8 or a 93 Rx7 R1 GT edition. The rx7 is in a very good shape. The car is brand new (15000 miles) and had never been used on winter. Rx7 price is 20000$(canadian) and the Rx8 is 30000$(canadian).

There was no GT edition R1. R1 meant dual oil coolers, front strut brace, shorter rear end, and no sunroof. The yellow paint was only offered on 93 R1s as well. That said, I would definitely go for the FD (RX-7), but it all depends on what you're looking for.

how many cars have you had before? what kind?
an FD is not a joke. if you dont know what you're doing you WILL wreck it.
and rx-8 is a little bit more forgiving.
whatever you decide, dont get an automatic!

i would have to agree.... if your looking for a daily driver/ run to the store/ and still be able to autocross type car...RX-8 no contest.

however...
no passengers, fun toy to race..RX-7.

Both are great cars. I always wanted an fd but it wasn't practical for me. kToo expensive for a used car with many miles, no warranty, not a good daily driver, and double the insurance money (main reason). I'm only 18 btw. but no regrets on the 8!

Don't know what everyone's deal is with it's so slow. It's not necesarrily the fastest but it's not that much slower than a stock 7. But yes, it doesn't quite have the same edge, but it makes up for it by being well-rounded.

I don't know... I test drove an 8 last year and I almost puked at that crap but I did like the seats. I hope they make another rx7 in the near future that has a turbo and 3mm seals to blow all these cars off the block!!!

duh it's gonna feel slow if your 7 has 425 hp! The rx7 does have a great advantage in the power area though.

I'm not sure about the shorter rear end.

yeah i was reading thru that and it goes "shorter rear end" and i was like... WHAT?

first time i've *heard* of such a thing.

R1 is dual oil coolers - yes, front strut bar - yes, no sunroof - yes, but don't forget:

suede seats, no cruise control, stiffer suspension, rear wing, front R1 lip, + its a lighter vehicle.

anything i missed?

Acturally, the lightest 3rd gen is the base model.
