RX-8 13B-RE conversion!

Quick update
Got the front cover off the Renesis so I could see what I would be dealing with installing this cover onto a BRE front plate. On Wednesday I fly to Puerto Rico for a week for business but while there will visit a friend that has a rotary shop. He has succesfully installed the Renesis front cover onto REW/BRE engines and with a bit of modification has gotten the Renesis OMP etc working properly so it doesn't require premix. From talking to him I know there will be a bit of clearancing required to get the front cover on simply because on the renesis the front counterweight is sunk into the front plate and on earlier models the counterweight is out into the front cover. He also said something about drilling an oil passage or something...we'll see.
Here you can see the front cover off the engine
Here you can clearly see how the front counterweight is sunk into the renesis plate
Another from a different angle.

13b re transmission
Sorry to bring up a dead thread, but quick question.
Did you use a stock rx8 transmission for this swap? I'm currently trying to mate my 13b re with a series 1 rx8 trans using act 6 Puck clutch and pressure plate, prolite flywheel and 13b re stock counterweight. A new pilot bearing and release bearing also installed.
However, there seems to be a 2 inch gap around the trans and engine bellhousing. I'm pretty certain the trans input shaft is seated in the engines pilot as when cranking the engine (in gear) I can hear the drive shaft moving. I can also see a couple of nicks in the pilot bearing after taking the engine back out suggesting it was seated in there. When I measure the trans input shaft it seems as if its slightly too long - I.e its seating in the engine at the point where there'd still be a 2 inch gap from the bellhousing to trans.
I've been told the 6 speed rx8 trans should bolt up to this engine using an aftermarket flywheel and act clutch kit, while keeping the counterweight. The only thing I can think of is that I should be using a series 2 trans or I've missed something blatantly obvious.
Did you have any similar issues? Any help would be much appreciated.
