Rotary in an AE86
Hey,
I have a friend who is seriously considering swapping a turbo rotary into his Toyota AE86. Does anybody know where he can find info on how to do this? Thanks.

Some crazy bastard in Japan did an AE86 with a single-turbo 20B, allegedly making around 600 horsepower- there's a video capture from an Option Video floating around on the web. Search for it on Kazaa.
I know it can and has been done, but I don't know much about the swap specifically.

Anything can be done. Torches, grinders, Sawzalls, and MIG welders are your friends
It's not something that there'd really be a "how to" on... if you know how to arrange things and can figure out how to make your own Tab A to fit in your own Slot B, then go for it.

It sounds like a good idea, I had that thought a long time ago because of how well 86 can drift. However I don't see how the Toyoda rear ring gear can handle the power when it breaks with only like 80-90 hp to it. May be a rear end swap is needed too.

Yeah, and Mitsubishi means three diamonds (mitsu is old japanese for the number three and san is the newer version). Not bad for a gaijin who could very easily be wrong.
Hmm, does Nissan mean two three? It's somebody's name, like Hon-da (Honda is some sort of grass or rice field or something lol).

Actually toyota was originally called toyoda. It was changed back in the day because Mr. Toyoda went to a psycic and she recommended changing the name for when they moved into selling cars in the U.S. For some reason Toyoda was too asian for americans. And yes, thats actually a true story.

Hey, I'm considering doing this swap as well. So no one has a site that at least sports a little more info about the swap? I understand it's not a Honda swap but since this swap has been done before I would think there would be at least a small write up (probably not in English though with my luck).
