I am a hair over 6' with shoes on. The seats are out of the truck right now, when I get them back in I will take some measurements for you.

Its now drivable, just have some small things to fab up to make it long trip road ready. Over the last two weeks I have put about 90 hrs into it, but it was worth it. This next week I should have new door seals and panels, oil and coolant catch can made, leaf spring bushings replaced, third link installed, and some sticky rubber ordered.

there you go ...

i wondered what happened to you. i am/was a HUGE fan of your Gen I and after i noticed you were missing in the Gen I forum, i kind of just assumed you were M.I.A. i guess you just changed sections. anyway, i love the 'PU it's kind of got that Grand National-thing (or maybe more like Syclone-thing) going for it. i really dig it!

Thanks diabolical. After the 1st gen I got into third gens for a while and that and life put this project on hold. However this is one of my favorite vehicles.

I have a little over 200 miles on the break in of the REPU's motor and got into a little boost on the current break in map. On the current wastegate spring the boost crept up to 14psi at a peak of 7400 rpms. The current rearend is a 4.625 so I was a curious what it was going to feel like with TII JDM transmission with the shorter 5th gear and 25" outer diameter tires. According to the data log and gear speed calculator in 3rd gear it went from 69mph@6000rpms to 86mph@7400rpms in 1.6seconds. This is a pretty good sign as far as power output, once I install the cold air intake and water injection I will be able to turn the boost up and advance the timing a little. This short of a final drive in third gear will limit the top speed of third to 93@8000rpms, definitely different from a 3rdgen that can easily go a good bit over 100 in third. The short ratio 5th is perfect for a gear that will still easily accelerate plenty fast but gas mileage will suffer. Also as for the traction I have temporarily installed a set of traction bars that are doing the job for the time being.

Found some time to knock out some more stuff on the to do list. I lowered the truck and also reworked the front control arms to gain negative camber on compression and also have 3 degrees of negative camber static if need be. I put some old 245/40/17 RS3s on the new 17x8 and 17x9 aluminum wheels, the new tires are on the way in 225/45/17 and 255/40/17. I also replaced the rear leaf spring shackles with sliders. The intake is almost done and now needs to be boxed in. I also made some cheap door panels to make the interior more complete.

Today I installed the Aux. injection and upped the boost to 17psi and maxed out the 4x850cc injectors with an additional 280cc of alcohol. The truck did 65mph to 90mph in 2.1 seconds with conservative timing and feels wicked for a truck. I am also at the moment programing the traction control in the AEM to help out in less than ideal conditions.

I've read up on leaf sliders, any more info on them? Also what did you use to lower the truck, JW.

This is a very awesome build! I also was wondering what happened to your 1st gen as that car was one of my inspirations for my own 13B-REW S1.

Looks like some of the parts carried over onto the REPU. Keep it up!

Thank you, I loved that 1st gen. A elderly man in a SUV pulled directly out in front of me while I was doing 30 mph and totaled it. Most of the parts on this truck have been recycled from the 1st gen and other cars that I have had over the years, the dual bosh fuel pump set up is from a S500 Mercedes lol.

A couple different companies make the sliders. From my research on the geometry change, it helps out a bit with some of the sort comings of the leaf springs including shackle jacking, binding, and roll center. The truck is down right amazing around corners now, with the 3 deg of camber up front, negative camber gain on compression, and the lowering has really transformed the truck. To lower the truck I removed leaf springs to get the desired spring rate and then cut a block out of the over load spring and used it as a small lowering block. The rest of the drop came from the sliders. Up front I calculated the spring rate and cut/shimmed as necessary to get the spring rate I wanted to start with. I might buy some after market replacement springs to get a higher spring rate depending on how the truck reacts at the auto cross. One other contributing factor to the handling is the dirt modified digressively valved bilstiens on the truck, I noticed a huge change in the control of the unsprung weight on the truck over non smooth surfaces of all types, even has a smother ride on the interstate.

Thanks for the info! I'm looking to use the REPU winter/highway cruiser/bike transporter duty. So I'm not too concerned on performance during spirited driving. I'm weighing out all the mods out to increase stability/safety. I may consider sliders in the near future of my intentions with the truck change. I'm tempted to lay it out though...

Edit: Quick thought, since the front leaf is fixed (From what ive seen on google images), is there now additional forward/aft axle movement during vertical movement of the axle on sliders comparatively to a traditional shackle? Also I have yet to see anyone c-notch a REPU, any insight?
Edit #2: I believe i answered my own question, its more dependent on other factors than shackle vs slider.

resource i read:http://www.afcoracing.com/tech_pages/leaf.shtml

Some pics of the shock mount modification in order to use the Digresively valved Bilsteins. I also started getting some parts together to put on when the ID1000s go in. One of the things is a 90mm throttle body that I knife edged and will be bolted on to a port matched/hogged out upper intake manifold.

I am falling in love with this truck all over again!

Ported the UIM and TB, installed new hardware/gaskets in the trubo system, robbed fuel rail from 3rd gen to install ID1000s, waste gate re-rout, and also put in a fast acting air temp sensor.

I put the truck on corner scales to see where I was at weight wise before I start taking more weight out of it. I told a friend that I had 2550 lbs in my head as what I was hoping for, but would be happy with anything under 2700. Much to my surprise it came in at 2551, now that I know where the weight needs to be in the truck I am going to attempt to take another 52 lbs out of it.
