another glc build
Well this is my 79 glc I have been building . Its 2 1/2 inch lowered front and rear with 83 rx7 front struts and rca's . The rear is an rx2 rear end I fabed in with an lsd and 2 calipers per side ( planning on doing some drifting with this car). The e brake works had some fun with that mod . Next is the 12a . One problem ,I would like to upload some pics on my apple laptop and i'm having some issues , any tips? Oh got it

all you really need is a fb suspension...it all bolts right up. There are some negatives however. You will end up with a bit of positive camber and the car will be a bit too low in the front. You can address the ride height isssue any way you want, but most opt for spacers on top of the strut mounts to space up the body. The conversion is worth it just for the brakes if nothing else!

I made some 2" spacers. It needed to go up slightly higher as there is still a bit of a rake, but it looks lkinda ok. Like 1/2" more. But I think I'd rather lower the rearend a little.
Then again it does have RB springs up front as well. They say these lower the car compared with stock. Maybe that's the reason for the 1/2".

To correct the camber issue get some camber/caster plates , I put some ground control camber plates for an rx7(about 250.00) in mine , just drilled 4 new hole, it's not that critical if the holes are exactly perfect because the plate corrects it . Caster is also an issue ,and it's just as important as camber , the GLC doesn't have enough caster adjustment (shimming the sway bar) much like an rx2. If you want the car to handle these are changes that need to be done . I will take a pic of mine , good luck

thank you zionfarm for uploading my pics , much appreciated . The cable and bracket I fabed were to make the e brake work , clevices from mc master carr (50.00 for both ) and elongating the stock glc brackets (2 1/4 on the passenger side and 4" on the driver side )really easy to do took about 2 hrs. And here is a pic of the camber/caster plates for an rx7 I popped in .Also a pic of the engine bay ready for the 12a and the dash on the above post was a cracked and destroyed sport dash that I fiber glass repaired , I plan on painting it wood grain ;pics to follow

Gonna fit the motor tomorrow , that is the factory cross member with the motor mounts cut off . I have ben told it does clear ,we will see . and the motor mount is out of an rx3 ,bolts right in . I was gonna put the motor and trans in today but I had to shorten the shifter on my 83 rx7 trans . I'm not a big fan of 79/80 rx7 trans ,they are weak and I have had more than 1 fail in my life so I did the 103mm mod that pushes the shifter housing forward .I will also see how that fits in the trans tunnel tomorrow.

At the time when I bought mine they were offered together and I paid just over 270 for everything shipped. It was a bitter pill to swallow, but since used rx3 crossmembers do not come up very often and I desperately wanted to move my project along, I made the decision to press the trigger. I can say that the build quality is very good and no problems with the part 3 years later.
