Very cool. It's good to see they are going to get a little attention this year. Mazda has never managed to fully capitalize on their historic win.

^They couldn't. After that win, they restricted the intake. The 787 had variable length intake runners. If you look close, it's the pulley system you see on top of the engine with the cables running to the trumpets.

I was referring more marketing wise and taking that win and doing a better job the following year with the IMSA GTP program.

I know all about the variable intake system. That year was the ultimate development of the concept and the writing was on the wall. The FIA was going to a 3.5L F1 type engine formula the following year, making the rotary a non-possibility engine wise for the prototype cars.

yes! and the centre feed coolant port on the iron...

i also notice they didn't repaint it, its still got all the bumps and chips in it that it did when i took pictures of it at laguna in 2001!

it might be the most reliable rotary.... it does do a bunch of track days every year
