Super exciting! I wonder who will get to drive and how it will do! |
That's cool to bad it's not competing.
Yeah I know. Its just going a couple of hours before the event itself.
The link has some really big, good quality pics.

Very cool. It's good to see they are going to get a little attention this year. Mazda has never managed to fully capitalize on their historic win.
^They couldn't. After that win, they restricted the intake. The 787 had variable length intake runners. If you look close, it's the pulley system you see on top of the engine with the cables running to the trumpets.
+1 for the hi-res photos in it
there's one pic where you can see the combustion bathtub on the rotor... that is crazy looking

I know all about the variable intake system. That year was the ultimate development of the concept and the writing was on the wall. The FIA was going to a 3.5L F1 type engine formula the following year, making the rotary a non-possibility engine wise for the prototype cars. |

i also notice they didn't repaint it, its still got all the bumps and chips in it that it did when i took pictures of it at laguna in 2001! it might be the most reliable rotary.... it does do a bunch of track days every year |
