4port turbo rebuild

So, im rebuilding my 13b 4 port because i blew a water seal. And the engine had some miles on it so... I havn't finished doing my dimensional check but the rotor housings look like they need to be replaced and maybe the rotors, but the steel side plates are looking good. I want to put a custom turbo setup on my 4 port 13b, and im woundering if i should look for some different year parts that might make for a better setup? Anyone have any good advise on engine configurations for a 4 13b that i want to make turbo?

send me pics of the housing because if your throwing them away I will take them and use them myself. I have used way worse housings and ran hard as hell

Well, you'll likely want to look for rotors from a S4 or S5 TII, as thhey'll give you lower compression and allow more boost. To do that, though, you'd have to toss out your endplates because of the coolant seal location. At least you can reuse your front cover, though !!

I was retarded last night. Coolant seals are only a problem if mixing housings from before or after 86. Rotors are no problem.

What im planning to do with my engine. Im going to go turbo, most likely going to run a stand alone so im looking at using 89-93 rotors, counterweight and flywheel with my 84-85 side plates and rotor housings. I wont be going turbo untill after i get my engine running on this setup and broken in. Then when i have the money i will go turbo. Do you see any problems runing a 89-93 turbo rotors in my N/A block?

You know you will have to use 13b GSL-SE housings though to compisate for the water seals. Its a good set up im doing the samthing right now. Im using 12a plates from an 83-85 13b GSL-SE housings, turbo internals. The only thing different that I'm doing is running a huge bridge port. Runs hard and runs good. I run these set ups all day. My little bro is running the same thing with a custom intake manifold we custom made bolted onto it with t-76 turbonetics turbo.

Talking Use all your original 4-Port Engine Parts

There is nothing wrong with using 13B 4-Port Irons, Rotor Housings, and Rotors. These parts will work fine for a turbo street application. You better have deep pockets if you plan on going turbo. Go with a Street Port engine they usually last longer that Bridge Ports. If you are building it yourself use what you have.

Keep it simple. There is no need to complicate your turbo upgrade. Use what you have it will work just fine.

true that but everything breaks at one point or another. The set up he wants to run will run hard and will run good. Just get a good tuner and he should be fine. But like home boy said run what you have to save money. But if you already have or if he already has the turbo internals let him venture off. But either way each setup will run hard and will be fun.
