12a railbuggy simplest ignition system advice

I bought a 79 rx7 12a engine with 53k miles. It has a points distributor, would it be suitable for my buggy. I would like it to be as simple as possible.

if u check the foxed.ca website there should be a wiring diagram that may be of some help. might i suggest tho swapping out the 79 points dist for an 81-85 electronic one.
