transmission jack

Do any of our local auto parts places rent transmission jacks? I am in south Everett.

I think my transmission needs to be rebuilt and i'd like to try to take it out myself. Also, there is someone in Poulsbo who advertises on Craigslist about rebuilding transmissions for Mazdas. I think i've seen him post on this forum but I could be wrong. Does anyone know about that?

Thanks for any info.

Tom Shirk does the rebuilds. Great guy, great work. You can find him on Facebook too.

I've usually just used my floor jack to lower the transmission, but my car is usually only up on ramps.

Ok, thanks. My car has an appointment at 1st stop Performance this morning so a real mechanic can drive it around and see if the whining sound is in fact the transmission. :P

I have a lift, but it only goes up about 43" so I think I'll look for one of those low transmission jacks.
