Shops
Shops
New to the Rotary scene after being in VW's for about 6 years, just curious what good/reputable shops (to buy parts, possibly installs?) are around snohomish/skagit/king county?
umm...for the rotary...none..i would say...atkins in puyallup...pinapple racing near portland, corksport in vancover...pineapple and cork for possible installs...parts...just buy onlline...
+1 If you want a shop he just listed your main rotary mechanics. i would just add jerrys in kent to that list. I also agree that you should just buy all your parts online. If you buy from a rotary specific shop they will not screw you over because then all the rotorheads would just not buy from them. Check out rx7store.net. and rx7.com those 2 are were I get my parts. Welcome to the scene.
+1 for Pineapple Racing. After you talk to Rob once, you're head will explode with information overload.
He's the only guy who I would trust to have build an engine.
As for tuning, Groundzero motorsports is the way to go. Ralph is one of the best tuners out there. But, they're even a further drive for ya. CJ

lol
Im not disagreeing, and Rob is the only good engine builder around. Ralph is a great guy and a decent tuner, but according to his son Bryan who no longer works there, Ralphs business partner used his power of attorney when he was a bit loony, took full ownership of GZ, and is now turning it into a higher performance car lot...
I disagree with pinoy... There are good shops around here.
It's not a "rotary specialty" shop, but Stage Performance in Kirkland is a great place to take your car or purchase parts. They really know their way around rotaries becuase one of the former owners owned one which they all built from the ground up. Very cool guys.
And Jerry's is a pretty decent shop from what I've heard. Atkins I'm not a fan of.
If you want an engine built Pineapple Racing in Oregon is the only "local" option.
And Ralph at GroundZero in Oregon is really the only "local" rotary tuner... But he's worth the trip

I was happy with Jerry's Little Car shop in Kent. When I get some time, I'm going to take the FD back to him to take care of a few more items.
I've only had limited contact with Atkins, but found them to be very helpful. If I ever need a rebuild (God forbid!), they will be one of first shops I'll check out.

Yes, I do know. And do you even talk to Ralph? If you did, you would know that Ralph is cool with that. I know why Bryan left, I know why the unsaid business partner took over the business, etc. With that said, Ralph is still the only guy I would trust to tune my FD. Honestly.
I just don't spit out recommendations. There are a couple shops that I use to endorse, but no longer. Rob and Ralph have always bent over backward for me, and I try to help them anyway I can. CJ
