Pineapple Racing is Moving...
Pineapple Racing is Moving...
Our landlord decided to jack our rent 38% at the end of our lease (dumb move in this market!), so Pineapple Racing is relocating over to Airport Way, about half way between 122nd and 138th, on the south side of the street. The address is 12838-B NE Whitaker Way, Portland, OR 97230. This is directly across the street from Horsepower Freaks. The signage is not up yet, so look for Gasket Specialties...we're next to them, in Bulding 4, facing the street.
The new shop is about the same size, but we are no longer leasing out half to GT Garage (Chris has moved his shop to North Portland), so it will really be quite a bit more space for us. Our new complex also has 24-hour on-site security with a 60-second response time.
We will be competely out of the old shop on Whitaker Way by the end of the week. It will take some time to set up the new shop, as there is a LOT of stuff to rack and equipment to set up. After we get settled in, we will invite everybody to come over and visit us. Perhaps have a barbeque or something. Anyone interested in a Compression Check day, similar to a dyno day but with a Mazda Digital Compression Checker? Perhaps just a tech seminar? Let us know what you'd be interested in.
We are hoping to have a smooth transition with the phone (same number) and internet access, but if you have a problem getting a hold of us, please be patient. It's possible we will be out of touch for a few days, depending on things outside of our control. We're going to be pretty busy just setting the new shop up, anyway.
Here is a map, showing the old and new locations:

sI was hoping a touch closer also.
But the compression check sounds like a good idea.
Would you be doing this with a Mazda Compression Tester?
Would you connect up and good battery also?
Just wondering about the difference in numbers due to the cranking/RPM speeds while testing.
Tech day would be cool too.
Good Luck in the move and have fun in the new shop.

Yes, we have a Mazda digital compression tester. I even had some compression test slips printed and padded, so you can have a record of the test to keep with your maintanance records, or in the glovebox. We may also make some decals to stick under the hood. Cranking RPM is important, but there is a simple, linear function to determine the relationship (e.g. 5.0 cg/cm^2 at 200 rpm = 7.0 cg/cm^2 at 300 rpm). Here is the graph on our comp check pads:

BTW, it's probably obvious, but in the first paragraph of the first post, I accidently said 12838-B NE Whitaker Way....I meant, of course, 12838-B Airport Way. D'oh!
Sweet Thanks,
No sales tax, I forgot about that. Right on.
The thing that gets me is when you jump out to pump your own gas, some guy comes running out and pushes you away. I always forget it's not self serve. Plus do you have to tip those guys?
Not to change the subject or anything.

Anyway, back to our regularly scheduled programming...I'm about to pack up my office and have no idea how quickly our phones and DSL will be back up, so I may only be able to post from home (and I won't be seeing much of home until our move is done). See you on the other side.
Whats sad is that I never had a engine built in that shop.
The old one in SE Portland built pretty much all of my toys over the years. Lets see...there was the 12a Peirpheral engine with no rotating mass for my 81 Rx-7, the monster street ported 13B fore my REPU, the injected 13B Peripheral with the nitrous for my REPU, and my daily driven small street port for my old n/a 90 Rx-7.
Back on topic, I wish you guys would have moved south a wee-bit further. Like Wilsonville.

Say Hi to Rob for me Blake.

I got an Idea! You guys should expand! Open a second shop up in Seattle, and hey I'll run it for you! I'm cheap labor, well not too cheap! Hey business management doesn't come cheap anymore! LOL
Sounds awesome, I only drove down to portland once. I really don't like that long stretch of road thats 70mph on it... way to easy to go 90+ down. Thank goodness when I got pulled over I was only clocked at about 82, and I got off with just a warning
Back on topic, I wish ya guys a quick and easy move, and sucks ya have to move, but hopefully it will be for the better.

Update on the relocation:
We are now entirely out of the old facility and in the process of setting up the new shop. Our phone service will not get resumed until the middle of next week and we will temporarily have a new number until the transfer request goes through (we are changing phone companies and we have to have service before they can file the number transfer paperwork). We also have to go from Cable Modem to DSL and that will also apparently take a bit of time and effort to get up and running. Hopefully we can get a lot accomplished in the next few days, so when we get back from Sevenstock, we can start being productive again.

I agree with blake on this one banzaitoyota. Please take this to the "Good Guy bad Guy Section" if you still feel the need to post that you are a dissatisfied customer with Pineapple, but don't do it in this thread. Thanks

a compression check day and BBQ sounds fun
maybe could have compression competitions!!! with prizes!!!!
compression competition catagorys
1. highest compression/RPM
2. lowest compression/RPM
3. largest AVG. comp difference between F and R.
4. most uneven compression between 2 chambers in 1 rotor
5. highest cranking RPM
6 lowest cranking RPM
that way even if your motor sucks u can still be a winner! haha
