I live in salem, OR and need to know either where to buy the feeler gauge or if someone close could loan one to me. I've already checked autozone and schucks
and I assumed napa didn't have it because schucks always refers me to napa if they've got the part. In case someone has a feeler but hasn't rebuilt a rotary, you need a 0.001 mm feeler to do all of the clearance checking.

I don't think it's worth buying the dial gauge however, so if someone could loan me one or tell me a place I could go rent one I'd much appreciate it.

I'm hopeful in getting this thing back on the road after 9+ months of sitting in my driveway.

huh, didn't know you could buy one for that cheep, I searched on the internet and couldn't find one for sub 100 bux. I guess if noone is willing to lend me one by tomorow afternoon I'll just go buy it. Although there's bound to be someone really close to me that isn't using their's. Any expense I can cut without biting me in the end I would like to take also.

I knew about harbor frieght but someone told me they didn't cary what i needed..... it might have been someone at autozone..... I guess that's what I get for trusting employees of competing stores.

Oh, I got a question about the indicator base they've got here. It says "extremely powerful magnetic base", which would seem likely to mar my machined surfaces. Is this fine or is there something I can put between it and the surface to lessen its power without throwing off accuracey?

I got my dial indicator and base from harbor freight to set up differentials with. Works fine, and nice and cheap. I wouldnt know about sliding it on anything, maybe put a piece of felt or cloth of some sort under it between the base and the housing?

EDIT: Its the exact same setup the local very well known diff shop tried to sell me for twice as much too.

dang, wish I had read that earlier. too late now. Spyder's ended up being too big too, so now we're both looking for a set. I just looked at the measurements again and the smallest clearance is .0011 to .0031 and harbor sells a .0015 so I guess I'm going there tomorow and buying it. Can't beat 2.99$.
