Illegally Modified Cars Law / Tri Cities

I got pulled over the other day for not front license plate and a modified exhaust. I live in the Tri Cities. I guess staters are going to start enforcing the modified exhaust law, but only for imports. Anyone else have similar things happen to them

wierd, im pretty sure they would have thrown the book at me if i got pulled over in my old accord, straight pipe to ricer can , richland cops are pretty easy, when i moved the staters were just starting to test for cats.

hopefully it doesnt turn into cali. where they give tickets for cone filters that arent 50 states legal.

I have no cats, but Is it easy to get a modified exhaust ticket dropped.

yeah, the cops around here have the "privilege" to basically write tickets for anything they "Think" is too loud or may be modified. There isn't really a decibel measurement that comes into play IIRC. Basically, they get to write tickets for whatever they want. I guess I will need to keep my cat and airpump after all... lame.

yeah old man jerry got one for modified exhaust.. along with few other here in tri-cities. its comon...mostly a problem in pasco tho..kennewick cops dont bug ya to much about it.ive already gotten a 192 dollar ticket for no front license plate on my camaro...i refuse to put one on my FC of camaro...

as for the modified exhaust law...there is no set decible rating yet on it in the state of WA , so if your exhuast is not stock and loud they can give you a ticket.
SEMA is trying to get a set decible rating or somethign so that WA cops cant hand out tickets to whomever they please...

None of these dumb laws apply to me!

I can't believe they're actually trying to enforce this. I guess it just allows cops to make it look like they're doing something useful.

Hehe. Living out in Shelton... yea there are a lot of staters.... considering the academy is up there.... I went there a couple times for some stuff when I wanted to join the police force.... Now, I think most cops are ******. I don't have the ***** personality required to be a cop.

I had to drill my front bumper to attach a license plate... it was a sad day.

I don't have insurance for my car, and getting pulled over for no license plate was scary sometimes, and expensive other times.

From the factory the car didn't come with license plate mounts. So, I think we should be exempt from needing them. But the reason the police want us to have it is because it is a good target for when they are using their laser gun to check speed. When they use the laser gun, they have to aim for headlights, or your plate. So, with drop down headlights, and no front license plate, all they can do is shoot at the windshield and hope that it works... , or try and hit the very small blinker lights on the front.

Eh, I dislike cops. Most of them are ******.

Sucks you got pulled over.

The funny thing is I got pulled over by a motorcycle cop and his harley was louder than my car. That's cause he pulled out behind me at a red stop light so i did not go past 2K on my shifting, but he still got me for illegal exhaust. It was officer Cooper for those in the Tri Cities that might know him. A side note I pulled over next to a mattress store. The manager came out looked in my window and said, nice car sorry about the ticket. As he was walking to the back of the car the cop asked him what he was doing. He said he was just checking to see if it was an RX7. The cop said, "well it is" so he just turned around and went inside.

i got pulled over for not having my front plate on,i was at a 4 way intersection and i was at a red light and he passed me,staring at my car the whole time, then light turned green,so i went and i looked in my r/v mirror and he flipped a bitch and stopped me.but let me go cause i had my plate in the car, just needed the bracket so he told me to fix it as soon as i could. i got lucky that time, not so lucky last time i got pulled over, but thats a different story(and different car)

I got pulled over in November for speed racing. You guys are going to love this story. I was on my way home from school at 1000 at coming from North Portland to Gresham. I was almost home when I stopped at a red light intersection right next to a mini van. I stayed their for a couple of seconds cause the last thing I want after just getting my car back from Rob at Pineapple, is to have my car totaled from someone running a red light. So back to the story, I went through the green light with the mini van still stopped, when I noticed a new Audi M3 switch into my lane pass the mini van then switched lanes and then passed me to turn off into some apartments 8 blocks from the intersection. I am thinking in my head wheres a cop when you need one. As I was switching lanes to go around the car I noticed a cop car driving in the middle lane passing two cars, thinking alright he is going to give that guy a ticket. Well he gets behind me about 10 blocks from the intersection and then follows me for another 11 blocks. Now the whole time I am driving I am doing 42-43 in a 40. He pulls me over and like a dick asks what was the reason I was racing that guy. I told him I was racing nobody but he didnt care he took my information and wrote me up a ticket then he comes back and says he is having my car towed. I was so pissed off from being pulled over that I got even more pissed off when he decided to tow my car, no I didnt get arrested but close. So I went to a hearing for getting my tow charge back and I did end up winning that one, but went to court for the ticket and the cop lied and got away with it, so I obeyed the law got busted and still have to pay for it. Now tell me that isnt some fucked up ****.
I hate cops and they can **** themselves. When I was leaving the scene I told the cop he can go **** his partner and then gave him both fingers as we were pulling away. I did manage to find out where this cop lives so what should I do?

No insurance?

If you can't afford to drive your car, please get off the road until you can.

The main problem is that local citys are alowed to keep the money they generate from tickets. Think about how much money that adds up too!!!! They say they run radar for safty, and that your exhaust bothers the neighbors but we all know its about money.

I wish we could get a law passed stating that all violations of city code results in the money going to the state. The state would then re-emburse money to the city as needed.
See how many bullshit tickets are given out after that.

My Ex wife got pulled over for SLOWING DOWN TO CHANGE LANES!!!!!! on hyw99. No ticket but think about that.

Question exhaust

I just realized this but when you run your car through emissions and I am not sure if all of you qualify for this. but in the emissions test they run a decibal test. If you have good tags on your car, the cop is just harassing you, they run a decibal test and if your car is too loud you wont pass the emissions test. I know that for sure if oregon cause i do have a louder exhaust then stock. i know that washington used to but i am not sure if they are still running that test or not. just something to think about

No DB test here in washington that I know of. If the cops have a db meter in there car, i''d say they are wasting taxpayer money.
