is it illegal to not have a Front licens plate

i never had the plate on the front bumper, took it off the day I bought the car and put it in the windshield. I have been pulled over for not having the front plate in the right spot (on the bumper and I had it in the window) but I have since moved the plate down below my seat that seems to have fixed the issue, out of sight out of mind and I haven't had any problems for the last year.

Twice as of late I've had police ask about my front plate whereabouts. If I can think of a way to mount the thing, I'd probably do that, as I dont like wasting my time explaining the lack of a mounting bracket. I have a large FMIC, and I'm not even sure if the stock bracket will fit.

I wonder if explaining the FMIC to the officer will settle the issue? All in all, I just wanted to type about it.

Just tell him you drive so damm fast that its warps the plate backwards, and that you got tired of replacing it. I am sure he will understand.

if you need a bracket i have one that fits a 1984 gsl.ill give it to you for free and if you want it shipped you pay shipping and thats it. i live in kent. i dont know what else it fits. i just dont care if a cop pulls me over. lol. maybe ill just throw it up on my dash. but if i do does it have to be at a certain angle or just up there?

i dont think a bracket from an 84 1st gen will fit my 87 t2. will it?
