It's in the Driver handbook. You must have a front and rear license plate by law.

WA state law requires both front and back plates.
There is a factory bracket that bolts up to two bolt holes under the center of the bumper. no need to drill.

I have had mixed luck with out the front plate. I ran my 87 turbo with no front for 3 years befor i got a "fix it and we won't make you pay" ticket. Ran it for two more years with the bracket, now i've been 3 years with it on the dash.

My 91 vert ran four years without the front, and never had a problem, even when pulled over for other ****. my new 91 vert for 1 year same ****.

My advice is to get the bracket, istall it if you want or, put it and the plate behind your seat, and if a cop gives you **** say OH its right hear, the bolts just rusted out and i need to replace it. Might work might not.

I wanted to see if anyone ever did a study on fuel economy with or with out a front plate. i would love to be able to say, well, you could save 100,000 gallons a year in gas, just in this state by removing the front plate.

(i hope i didn't jinx myself by saying "its been x number of years"

Sweet merciful jeebus! You make my head hurt with your spelling! But yeah no need to drill unless its an aftermarket bumper, and if that's the case just stick the plate up in your windshield on the inside and you should be ok. i have been running with mine like that for about 4 years and haven't been given a ticket, been told serveral times to mount it on my front bumper though, But I always 'forget' to do that.

haha, don't drill your bumper. on my FD i just keep the front license plate under the passenger seat, and i've been pulled over twice for different reasons, and no cop has given crap about not having a front license plate. ironically, a friend of mine with an FC got pulled over for that exact reason and the cops looked at my car and didn't say anything. go figure.

I didn't like mine out in front to I put it down on the front valence. I like it and I think it cleans up the front end.

got pulled over three nights in a row for no front license plate after going 6 years without one. they were all late at night so the cops didnt have anything else better to do. two cops that pulled me over thought the car was stolen and that i stole it. when you have a car like that they do whatever they can to **** with you. two or three years with my exhaust being the way it is and then all of a sudden twice in two months i have been pulled over for loud exhaust even though i live in the stinking area that long and never been touched before. got off with warnings both times though. i figure i will just leave things the way they are til i do end up getting a ticket, they are going to **** with me no matter what regardless if i fix those items or not.

Haven't ran a front plate since 2001. I've never been pulled over for it in any of my cars. While it is technically illegal most cops don't seem to care. But if you're doing some stupid **** or attracting attention to yourself they may pull you over for it.

sounds like you've been targeted. Federal Way cops do the same ****. I've been pulled over on my way to work, and on the same day pulled over TWICE on the way home. All three times were for my license plate not being on the front of the car, but in the windshield. I was pulled over 7 times during that week for one reason or another....but what could I do about it? Go to the cops and tell them that the cops are harassing me?

" why yes officer- of course, ill go right home an see if i can find a way to attach it, this damned car came with no bracket! "

haha wow I have a olution for all of you! It's called install a front mount intercooler Got pulled over 4 times for no front plate in my FD prior to installing my fmic, now I haven't been pulled over since. Well not for that at least. But if you put the plate in your front window they will usually ticket you because in an accident it "could cause serious harm, or even death" as they usually say. You're better off to tell them a similar BS story as G-rae does, cuz that's what I did! Keep the plate inside the car, but not in your window. And when they ask you why you don't have one simply say "I do, it's right here. But when I bought the car there was no bracket to put it on the car." Then they'll tell you politely to fix it and if it's an FD they'll begin to ask questions about the performance of your car ..... Cops..................

yeah i wouldnt leave it on the windsheild, just dont carry it at all. at least then it you can try the excuse i dont have the other plate at all.

because when its in yr windsheild they are more likly to think you know the law but just dont care anyway.

I dont have one on the front of my Z. 2 years without a problem. I do run one on the RX-7 because i would be pulled over and harrassed if I didn't. All it really is, effectivly, is a profiling tool for cops.

The law states that it must be on the frontmost part of the car, so half assing it and hiding it or putting it behind the grill will still net you a ticket. I don't understand how you fawkers can constantly get away with this stuff. I get picked on for everything. And some people don't think there is racial profiling.

What is your race? I DO believe there is racial profiling and age profiling. I got pulled over a couple times for no license plate in my FC years ago. Not a single problem in the 350z. I even speed by cops in the Z and they don't even care.

Washing state law states that "the plate is to be located on the front of the vehicle in a conspicious(easily viewable) place" I got pulled over and ticketed for having it on the dash, and got the ticket thrown out in court by taking a copy of the RCW with me. That thing could cut the crap out of you in a rear ender, but my bolt rusted and then twisted the threaded insert out of the inside of the bumper so I don't have a choice(this is on my civic).

Around here what you drive seems determine if you will get pulled over or not for it.

A buddy of mine had a crx and kept the plate in the windshield due to the fact he put a new bumper on and didn't want to drill for brackets. He got pulled over for not having the plate and was told to put it on or ticket. So he zip tied it in the mesh that was back a bit on the front bumper and still got pulled over.

Once he sold that and bought a lifted toyota pick up, he never got pulled over for not having the front plate.

And he is a good driver too, no tickets/record

It just depends on on the laws in your state. I'm in Vegas and they can give 2 ***** about a front plate. Look at the front of a Vetts
I think it looks like *** and I dont run one. I have yet to run one on any car I have had.
