Off topic, registration question?

So I bought tags for my 94 r2, and I only run with a rear license plate. Would I be able to use the other set of tags that came for the front, that I'm not using, on a different car? Is each tag serial number registered to the license plate?

Lol yea man, thats illegal. Plates are registered to the car they are purchased for. If you do it and a cop decides to run the numbers and sees the plate doesn't match the car then youre gonna have some problems.

Don't do it. If you get pulled over and cop checks the VIN, you will get a ticket and car impounded guaranteed. $$$$

I tried this once when I had two FCs and needed to break in the motor in the yellow car.

^Agreed. 1 out of every 3 posts is a new thread, sometimes asking the same question in different sections. Oh...and he turned 18 in April.

18 year old who doesn't know how registration works and whose first stated order of business is to install big subs in his car buys an FD rx7. What could possibly go wrong?

On the other hand guys...he is simply asking a question. As an old boss of mine used to say:

"you don't know what...you don't know."

At least he asked, instead of doing it and then coming on here complaining after the fact. Recognizing that there is a reason to ask is good at 18.

My perspective on things like this has shifted since I now have teenagers...

I agree with that sentiment Greg...up to a point. But he was given one registration with two license plates. If he's competent enough to have a drivers license he should be competent enough to understand what he is suggesting is illegal. If he gets caught running with a fictitious plate on the other car, ignorance will be no more a defense than getting busted for shoplifting and then claiming he had no idea Walmart charges money for their TVs.

Agreed. This is pure common sense. In what world would anyone think that it is not illegal to fraudulently place tags on a different car? That is why I asked how old he was because I find it extremely hard to believe that anyone who has multiple cars is unaware of how the law works.

The first thing cops do is run plates when they pull you over and many times just to see what comes up they randomly run them in traffic. To even contemplate using another vehicles tags is a disaster waiting to Happen.
