No, I do not think so. It is purely based on what turbo/boost your are running. I know that he mentioned that he did not like the megasquirt though.

I think that tuning sessions range from 350-600. 600 gives you 2 maps and as much boost as you can stomache.

I don't think he thinks it is a bad system, he said that it is just soooo hard to navigate. IIRC he said that it takes 2-3 times the time to tune a car.

I posted on rx8 club and it looks like there is a possibility of a couple 8's coming out. For those who do not know Cobb released software the solved a lot of the computer issues that they were having. A pretty big break through for the rx8 community.

Always great to see more people coming, but now I am a little worried that we might have to split it up into two weekends?

If for example, we have 5 people doing a 400$ tune (up to 16 psi, pump gas : 1-2.5 hours), 4 people needing the $450 package (pump/race/aux injection : 2-4), and 2 people needing the 600$ package (2 maps, 3-6 hours) that could be as low as 19 hours, but as high as 40.5 hours. I know Steve is an amazing guy, but personally I would rather he get a good night sleep before he tuned my car. haha

I am not telling you how to run your show, but just wanted to bring that to your attention.

humm for me (MR2 Seth W) I cant do the july thing because the MR2 meet down in medford is that weekend, I'll talk to jason (Rx7 Seth W) and see if he wants to change the date as well. I'd like to see him make it down their as well this year...need some competition The medford event is really fun 3 full days of racing for under $100 mostly it's MR2 guys but their has been people in the past that came with that run the track as well.

For now my plan is just to run a safc on the car until I get some more time to work on my engine build but I'd still like to show up the the dyno session if I have a day off of work.

I was thinking about this the other day. I need to work with Steve and see what he thinks. I am sure that he would agree that a good nights sleep is important. I would say 5 cars a day is a good pace. I think that we are at max capacity for the second session.

1. Tune depends on what you have. Chris, if you go back a few pages all the prices have been listed. For you price will be 400-600.

2. Dyno will be at Horsepower connection in Olympia. Here is the website:

http://www.horsepowerconnection.com/

3. There is no deposit on the dyno, just with Steve.

4. You do not need a wideband. Brian has a tail pipe wideband. It is included with the dyno time. If you have time and a little extra money it is not a bad idea though.

5. Yes, you will be responsible for dyno time. It is 85/hr. Last time my car was on for 1.5hrs. Longest car was on there for 2 hrs and that is because we needed to do some work on it.

6. Deposit is non refundable. How far away from completion are you?

If the second session is already full, are you considering setting up and additional July tune day with Kan seeing how there is probably more than enough interested parties to fill up another weekend?

Or this, is there room to squeeze in one more guy (me ) for the current july date...I need one map, 12-14 psi on twins, power fc, and dyno time. Only if there is time, I don't want to be the guy that makes Steve run out of gas if you know what I mean.

Right now, I don't think that we have enough people to warrant another session. If a couple RX8 guys want to join in, I will consult with Steve and see what he would like to do.

Any suggestions where to stay the night? I'm planning on trailering my FD (don't want to put the miles on it and just in case something goes boom) on Friday and need to find a place to stay.

What are the odds of spandy getting to be one of the first to tune in July? I have to cover near 800 miles trailering my FD round trip, and if I can be one of the first to go, I'm just going to load it back up after the tune and go home the same day.

Cosmo, PM sent.

Spandy, I don't have a problem with it. It will be a first come first serve basis. We will set times 1 month in advance. As long as everyone else is cool with it, so am I.

Everyone, start thinking about your deposits. Those will need to go out in a couple weeks.

z-beater : I have 1 of guanco's FC (the 13b-re). When I bought it we talked about him taking his spot/deposit. I will talk with him and confirm what we will do.

I just wanted you to know so that you know he has 1 less FC to tune, and mine will still stay the same.

Thanks.

^ I was trying to figure out who bought it. Will you be tuning 2 cars then? 2 turbo 7's you are a brave man!

You and Will will need to work all the details out with Steve. I believe that Will had a deposit w/ Steve already.

Yeup I got it. Going to be a fun car. I have decided to focus all my resources and time on getting the 13b-re running well for the steve kan tune, so I will only have ONE 7 needing tuned by steve kan. My other 7 is going to have to stay stock t2 ecued 6 port NA-T.

I will get a hold of Will when my cell phone comes back from repair. It's one of those stupid moto qs and it keeps killing itself. I hope people havn't been trying to get a hold of me. O.o

I have a question for you z-beater since you have had Steve tune your car.
I am thinking that you need to show up to the tuning event with a street tuned, easy idleing car correct? You can't just show up with a barely running freshly installed haltech and expect him to tune everything out right?
My second question is, do you just give him your car and he just goes at it or does he ask you questions about what you are looking for and what you are going to be using it for? I ask this because I will have a to4e .60 with meth injection and there is a good chance at 18ish psi it could hit 350+ rwhp. But I really only want to stay in the 300 rwhp range. Do you see that being a problem at all?

Thanks
~Tweak

I don't know a ton about the Haltech system but I will try and help. There are a few things.

1. Your car should run
2. replace all your Fuel filters
3. put new spark plugs in
4. new oil/filter
5. any other basic maint.

I am sure that steve can work off the base map. But the better your car runs the less time that he is going to need to fidget with it on the dyno. That is a direct savings in your pocket. He can also do street tunes. Pretty much as long as you don't bring him a pile of junk you are ok.

People are bound to have problems, that is just part of the rx7 game. Steve knows this and is willing to help. He really is a wealth of knowledge.

I don't know what tune you will be going with. Since you will have an aftermarket turbo you have 2 options. 1, 16psi which costs 400(might be 450) or 2, race tune/street tune which will run you 600. If you are only looking for 300whp I would personally stick with the cheaper tune.

The greatest thing about a turbo car is that you can turn the boost down. Get tuned for 16psi and turn it down to 10-12.
