bad news

I have a 1990 GTu that I had a new factory engine installed 34,000 miles ago. It just backfired and now only runs on one rotor. The dealer says he cannot rebuild the engine and that the car is scrap and I should buy a new one. Is this car a lost cause? It has new paint, good tires, and I bought it new. Hate to let it go. Does anyone rebuild these? I am in southern Oregon. thart

Yeah just get a new engine/rebuild that one if its alright. Also if your just strapped for cash get a known working one and drop it in there. Its a shame to see a car with nice paint/interior/etc just be sent off to a junkyard because of the engine being unfunctional.
For rebuilt engines and stuff check out the sticky here (NW section) tons of places to get work done.

Selling

Yeah don't sell it unless you really have to. Getting a new motor isn't too bad of a fate, especally for such a beautiful car. Besides Tim 'the tool man' Taylor demands that you car make MORE POWER.
