i would recommend Jerry Little Car shop...he is a great guy..he installed my atkins rebuilt 12a, he knows his stuff and it took a little while for the labor to be done..like 2 weeks for the install but he was the only one who touched my car...very clean install and done the right way..

Another vote for FD3S Marc has done a lot of work on my car over the last several months and no complaints. He takes his time to ensure it is done right.

I will be heading to the Portland area on April 4th through the 15th and i would like to set up a time to have my car looked at by your shop. Can you please call me at 541-215-5385 so that we may set up a day and time? Thank you

Is there a decent shop left in the immediate seattle-area that can do basic installs like radiator/ast/gauges? Hate doing that stuff myself these days and don't want to take a day off of work to drive to portland :-(

I had jerry change the turbo's on my fd, do the fuel pressure regulator, and some other work and while I wouldn't call it "on the cheap", I haven't had any problems with the work. Also, when I picked up the car, he provided me with a CD/DVD with pictures of the work done taken as he was going along. Also he was fine that I provided him with most of the parts, and a couple of parts I didn't have and he didn't have immediately available I had shipped right to him from Malloy and he was fine with it. I don't think he is really into big FD horsepower upgrades, and don't know if he would work on a highly modified car (e.g. single turbo fd).

As far an engine rebuild goes... I can do it for you along with any type of porting but you will need to remove and install the engine. I do mechanical, not tune.

The Madzda dealer mechanics claimed there was antifreeze in the oil and exhaust, but I think I will take the car elsewhere for a second opinion. Especially with the cost of an engine in the balance. Thinking about JLC Shop in Kent. Doing the work myself is probably not in the works; I am a retired rocket scientist, not a retired auto mechanic ...
I am a bit slow/negligent in following up on the site here, but this is what evolved.
I took the RX to Jerry's Little Car Shop in Kent, and he ran pressure and compression checks. Said there was not leakage, and performance was mileage appropriate other than probably needing new plugs. Car has been running fine since, though struggles for a few cranks on cold starts.

My opinion is Lee Johnson Service in Kirkland has been populated by either thieves or poor mechanics, and has lost this customer.

Thanks for all the good information and suggestions. Good to have it online here.

Lee J's service has screwed my mother over on her Chevy a few times, I would stay out of that place unless your rich and don't care if someone rapes you with a bill
