I know its not exactly "performance" but this trip put my motor over 196k miles, no porting, just a racing beat 4 barrel intake, a carter 500 non choke carb, and straight through exhaust. o and a hybrid s4/s5 na tranny (s5 box, s4 tail section) and i got like 16 mpg average over the whole trip, picked it up in everett, washington, and drove it back down to portland oregon, ~220 miles, heres some pics i took of the "tow bar" i made with nothing more then the scrap Joel had laying around his backyard...

Holy crap that looks scary and dangerous. If I was the 5-0 you would have been pulled over fo sho. Really, just wow.

 

thats going to hurt someone man... i tow alot and my biggest fear is a load harming another person. Dont let your beads be all thats holding a life from ending or even getting hurt.. Uhaul ftw.....

 

there was no point on that whole setup where the welds were the only thing holding it together... i had straps going around everything and everything was tested retested reinforced and tested some more, and the only time i got pulled over was when the battery got disconnected from the red car and the tail and hazard lights went out... other then that i made it all the way back with the running lights and hazards turned on in the red car... it held together just fine, and all the extra reinforcment was to make sure nothing happened.. towing is only illegal when its only a soft connection between the two vehicles, ie a rope or chain, but because this was a solid connection, my only worry was the lights on the red car...

LOL red green is an awesome show. great display of ingenuity @ 4piston. i still would be hard pressed to use that as an actual tow device and not just a novelty thing. lol kudos on your bravery and i'm glad you made it back safe ^_^

 

i was referencing the third pic down on the right, where the hitch set up is welded to the bumper.. if those welds break, someone dies or gets hurt, its just not worth it :-\

Next time just give me a call and i will help you out with a trailer
