what turbo
I´m trying to find some advices in single turbo forum, but I´m still helpless.
I would like to hit 300HP mark with T3 flanged turbo on series 5 engine.
Here´s my setup:
streetport
T3 flanged tubular SS manifold
3" racing beat complete exhaust system
Tial 44mm wastegate
TurboSmart BOV
550/1000cc injectors
Link G4 ecu
I have Garrett T3/T04e 60Trim, stage 3 wheel .63 A/R exhaust, but I fear that it will be too small on the hot side... What do you think, will it be sufficient?
I´m thinking about to switch for GT35r t3 .84 A/R, even because for it´s power potencial, if I decided to go larger...
It will be a street car so I want small responsive turbocharger, which will not choke the engine in higher RPM´s...

Here's a good thread out of the single turbo RX-7 archives: https://www.rx7club.com/single-turbo-faq-122/60-1-specs-210078/.
A 0.63 A/R turbine is definitely too small. 0.84 and 1.0 are commonly used, and the choice will depend on how quickly you want it to spool up vs. how much top-end airflow you're looking for. The T04E you have will be more than capable of 300 whp, so choosing a turbine on the smaller side may be worth it.

Thank you, very usefull thread. I will keep looking in single turbo forum...
Where´s the main problem? Too small A/R or stage 3 wheel is too small? Or combination of both? I see that someone here have a GT3076R with .84 A/R and make 380whp. As far as I know the stage 3 wheel has 65mm, GT3076R have only 60mm wheel. I know that GT has much bigger Trim, 84 vs 76, but still the st 3 is larger... or the diameter does not matter so much in this case?
What if I keep the stage 3 wheel and only change the turbine housing from .63 to .82 A/R, is that a solution? Will it work for me?
