What engine do I have?

After hours of research I came up empty handed. All I know is it is a 13B.

So, I will start off with the easy question. How can I POSITIVELY identify which rotary is in a kit car that I bought for my wife? It has a Racing beat intake, dual sidedrafts, and a racing beat exhaust. I want to figure out how to wire and fire it for the track. Simple start to see how it runs and go from there.

I am willing to read anything you throw my way (including links), and am a fairly competent wrench that has built MANY American V8's for the track. I just need to know what I have and we can go from there. I can e-mail pictures if that helps, but I have never done the forum thing before.
So..., who wants to raise a baby???

Thanks for the assistance
-Dane

Some pictures will be your best bet. You can upload a picture if you use the "Go Advanced" option when replying.

All 13Bs (and 12As) wire up the same externally with a dizzy/carb setup anyway. Follow the schematics in the 1st gen FSM to connect up the dizzy and coils.

O.K., Got it Aaron. Thanks a bunch. I will do some research and see how far I can get with the wiring tomorrow.
Also, the are a number of ports(?) that are not connected to anything. I try not to assume, however, I should think that several are not needed with the aftermarket set up. These may be, vents, vaccume, or ????. My problem is, if someone says, "just run the vaccume advance to any direct vaccume port", I have no clue where that would be. Consequently, I took pictures in advance to remedy my ignorance, but alas, I cannot figure how to post them.
I think the file size may be to big. Here's where the "I need to be babied" part comes in misterstyx69...lol. Let's just say this whole "Rotary experience" might teach me more than originally intended.

So, I typed in how to resize a photo, into RX Clubs search bar, and wouldn't you know it....you guys have it all covered!
I set up a photobucket account and soon (I hope) I should be able to post some pics for ya'll.

well..., just waisted an HOUR trying to upload photos from photobucket. Files are still too large and it takes freaking FOREVER to change each one when you have no idea what you are doing
This crud is what I didn't want to do....it'll have to wait till tomorrow

Version of Windows? There are some very simple picture resizers that work just by right clicking and selecting "Resize".

Windows 7/Vista: Image Resizer for Windows
Windows XP: Windows XP downloads - Microsoft Windows (in the PowerToys tab)

Download and install. Now you can right click pictures and choose "Resize".

Thanks again Aaron. For some reason the "direct link" on photobucket still needed resizing. So, here are some pics of what I thought may be "tells" as to what engine it is.

I have 40 more pics. of different areas on the engine, some might be duplicates from a different angle and such. If there are other places you need, let me know and I can post them.

Finally, I will need to show some pics of some problem areas I am having once we really get rolling on this thing (as soon as possible...lol).

Thanks again guys for all the help. I already told my wife, you folks are getting all the credit for this build....especially if it fails....LMAO!

AD SC3,
I wasn't sure if I could post a link to the pics, or I could have just done it via photobucket? I guess I needed to figure all this posting stuff out anyway right? That is why I am locked in the "Newbie" dungeon until I learn all this stuff....lol!

Best guess is an S4 6 port, configured with a 1st gen dizzy from an 82 - 85.

The area around the rear oil banjo bolt terrifies me with all that plumbing though.

use the "IMG Code" not "direct link." if u use a camera that can be set for a lower resolution rather than a camera phone that can't, u wouldn't need to resize anything.

I was wondering about the plumbing too. Here is where you come in...lol. I have all VDO gauges, and the standard idiot lights (Temp, oil pressure, alt...).

I am wondering where to hook everything for the "best" readings. Is there a free PDF format manual I can download to show me what is what? I should probably get one for the 12A as well as the B engine.

There is a picture I am going to post with this that shows a small hole right above the oil pan the doesn't look "stock". Can you guys take a look and see if you can make it out, and if it is a problem or not? It is located on the driver side front.

Thanks, rxtasy...I think that is probably what was happening on photobucket. I'll play around with it more when time is not so limited.

I really can't do anything with the camera. It is a pocket, "point and shoot" 100$ job.

BTW Aaron, do you have a pic of what the rear oil banjo is supposed to look like in race trim?
