Water leak steaming off.

Hello all. I have read a few post already covering this but not sure on the description.
ok so I start the car and always let it get to 80 deg before I drive away. I’ll go for a drive pull over somewhere and loads of steam from under bonnet. Then I’ll star the car and drive off and it stops. The other day there was a pool of brown water under the car around middle of engine. My question is, is this the water pipe to the turbos split? I’ve taken off UIM and checked but nothing! Any help would be great. Thanks
Jamie

You’re essentially asking us to waive a magic internet wand over your car to figure out where it’s leaking (rusty?) coolant. Fluid usually doesn’t defy gravity, so looking for a leak from the top of the engine may not be enough. Get a good flashlight (torch), and get the car up on stands to look underneath.

Ok!

Hello sorry my wording may have been wrong, I was essentially asking if the leak on a turbo was a common fault. Not asking for any magic! New to forums so forgive my Naivety. I have looked all around underneath and on a ramp can’t see anything.
cheers anyway
Jamie

There are two rubber turbo coolant lines. And yes, they're exposed to a lot of heat which typically causes them to bloat and eventually leak. But then there are other potential sources of coolant leaks "around the middle of engine" too. Below is from the Factory Service Manual (ignore the circles) showing those two lines behind the waterpump housing. If you don't already have a copy of the manual you can download one from the FAQ sticky at the top of this section.

Update

Ok so quite an easy fix in all. It was a leaking water pipe that comes off the back of the water pump to turbos. I took the air pump off intakes and air pump about 15 mins then good access to the pipe. Swapped the pipe 10 mins and all back together.
I didn’t see any splits in the pipe but seems to have cured it.

hope this helps someone in the same boat.

Sounds like one of those turbo coolant lines mentioned earlier was indeed leaking. Neither are expensive to purchase. I would have recommended changing both while you were in there. But thanks for posting a resolution, glad you got it fixed.
