Vacuum shutter valve issues?
My '83 RX-7 with a 12a engine has a weird howling/train whistle noise coming from the engine bay.
I searched around and found the hole in the intake for the vacuum.
The vacuum is designed to suck fumes and keep them in the intake from the overspray from the carb at high speed.
I stuck my finger on the hole to cover it up and I found that doing that stops the noise.
Turns out somewhere along the line, the control for the vacuum is messed up- keeping the vacuum sucking at full power at any RPM.
I've thought about just plugging the hole, but I don't want to fail emissions.
Any ideas?
