Turbo oil leak

Purchased a hybrid turbo from someone on the forums that I was never used. The turbo is an air research chra, compressor, turbine wheel and compressor housing. I purchased as it was a bolt on fit but the chra was spun 180 degrees that was fixed I then mounted my stock oil feed and drain lines (no restricter) and the turbo was leaking oil so I replaced the lines. They were replaced with a -4an feed line with a restricter flange and a -10 an drain. The oil leaks around the exhaust housing ad the chra, the plate that covers the internal wastegate and a little at the down pipe flange. Did I damage the turbo the few starts I did before changing the lines or is there something I may be over looking?

Well buying a used turbo is like buying a JDM engine from Ebay.
You don't know how it was run or if it is even usable until you install it.
Then when you do install it,it leads to the question: is it installed correctly.
Clocking the turbo should not have hurt anything.

Logan,just for info,PM me the seller's name.I am curious.
Please do not post it in this section. No blame has been established.(and it is not the section to do so anyways.Thanks.)

It had been built with what looked like new parts and never used so I assumed I was pretty safe.

Is there any way that you could perhaps get Bruno to come over and take a quick peek at it?

Yeah that's next if I cannot figure it out. It turns out I'm not even getting oil from the turbo feed and all the oil is coming from the engine.

As far as having run it briefly without an oil restrictor, you're fine. I went about 15 miles without one in initially at one point, but it didn't damage the seals at all. It leaked from the front of the turbine and into the intercooler. If you're leaking where the intake housing mates to the center housing, well that is a different problem.

Buying a used turbo can be tricky, but it will get you back on the road.
