TPS Adaptor

I have a 1988 GXL. Purchased as a project car, missing many parts. One part missing was the TPS. I was shocked at the price of replacing it. $250 -$400 avg. I got a new 2002 Mazda 626 TPS from Amazon for roughly $10 and made an adapter to fit my stock intake. So far its working very well. I did an oil injector pump delete, which allowed me to remove the linkage mechanism from my throttle stem. Has anyone else have any experience doing this?

TPS update:
The material (PLA), that I used to print the TPS does not hold up in the heat. It gets soft and deforms slightly. I kinda figured this would be a problem but figured I could shield it from the heat. This was not the case. I did use the printed TPS as a model to make one using aluminum. There are different materials that can be used to print items for higher heat applications, but the printers that use this are significantly more expensive.

You might be lucky and I may be able to print this out using Prusament PC-Blend.

PLA is definitely not up to the job.

Prusament PC-Blend is mainly polycarbonate mixed with other materials to ease the printing process. PC blend requires 275Celsiusnozzle temp and 115Celsius bed temp so you can already see the difference in temperatures compared to PLA.

please PM me if you’d like me to at least review the file and I have a new spool of Prusament PC-Blend on the printer right now ready to go.

I am going on travel Wednesday 9/20 to 9/27 so I can either get this going today or when I get back if you don’t find another solution. I will PM you with my email and phone number. I can get this on the printer today and probably shipped out tomorrow as long as I do not have any issues.

this is good info. it probably doesn't apply to the average owner, but i really dig this sort of DIY-thing. keep updating your progress.

Any chance you'd be willing to share that file? I think this is something I'd like to play around with too. I print in ASA for higher temp applications, i wonder if it would hold up so close to the engine though...

Also you can post the file on Thingiverse so at least we can access it and you can have some type of copyrights over the design file.

Jclapp reached out to me and I’m going to print these parts today out of the pc-blend. Will update with completed prints. I should be able to ship out the parts tomorrow.

Hello,
I am working on some blown injector o-rings at the moment. I plan to install the TPS adapter when I reassemble. Also working 7 days a week for a few weeks doesn't help. I will keep you posted. Thanks

No worries, I was just curious. I forgot you also have that aluminum one you milled. Hope you’re having decent weather to work on the car.
