Unhappy Throttle body question need help!!

Hello everyone,

First of all is there a big difference between the s4 throttle body and the throttle body of an FD?

How can I upgrade to an FD throttle body? Or is this not doable?

If so, what would I need to do in order to make the change. Or is it just a simple bolt on?

Vehicle info needed. NA or turbo? What kind of power level? There's not really much need for a larger TB unless you have a very big turbo.

The secondary bores on an FD throttle body are slightly larger. See this thread for specs: https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/throttle-body-size-945365/.

FDs use a different kind of TPS, and cable routing may cause problems.

I wouldn't complicate things with trying to adapt an FD throttle body. Things like a full exhaust, SAFC or Rtek 2.0 + wideband and an S5 intake manifold will be your best bets for making more power. The stock intake can actually be left alone, or a custom setup with a box or divider to block off engine bay heat will work.

Look up: FD upper on an FC Thread..started by ME(misterstyx69) on the sec Gen Specific section.
You can use a spacer specially made to put an FD upper manifold on the FC Engine, then use the FD throttle body.
Wiring the TPS info is also in the Thread.
Really though,IF you are just putting it on a N/A engine,it is TOO much,(overkill).
I put the setup on my TII engine, and I have the 90 MM FD Rotary-Works Throttle body on it.
The Setup is very Finicky, but it is Driveable IF you are a Track kind of guy.I suggest you find an aftermarket ECU that uses the FD TPS as a Component to run the engine though,as the RW throttle body is not "developed enough" to run other TPS's right now.(since it is not R&D'd enough yet).
